Sacred Pagan Area

Postby Butterfly1984 » Wed Aug 02, 2006 9:28 am

Hello,
I have been studying the Craft for about 6 years now and have started practising solitary for about 2 years. I have recently found out about an area where I live that is a believed to be an ancient pagan/witch temple or circle. It is called Witches Circle by local people. I went down to see it last week and it I got a strong spiritual feeling whilst I was there. It is a circle of 9 yew trees, it is a perfect circle.I went to see it last week and burnt some incense to cleanse the area. I would like to do a ritual there to communicate with the spirits that are there to find out what is was used for and if they wish it to be used again. IIf anyone has any ideas for what I could do please post here.
When I burnt the incense a single butterfly appeared out of nowhere. Should I take this as a sign?

Well besides the fact that you call yourself butterfly, butterflies are also a symbol of transformation. As far as I know they are, overall, a good symbol.

A butterfly was my first sign that I was on the right track. I'd say this is their way of warmly greeting a mortal sister.

Blessed be and good fortune.

I am glad you think it was a sign as well because it really touched me when it happened. My boyfriend was there at the time as well and he said that he saw it too and it looked tohim that it just appeared too. Any ideas on how to contact them?

Yes actually. A simple ritual. Like the "simple feast." Burn sweet inncense and leave an offering. I'd suggest libations of milk or wine, and some form of basic bread or short cake.

Also. some time when you get a chance. Go and palnt something in the area next to the circle. Make a show of bringing new life and life force to the sacred place. It'll also help bond you with it.
