My new happiness.

Postby Wolf Heart » Sat Aug 19, 2006 9:04 am

I got a cat today. I've been so lonely up in my apartment and finally my folks (whom own it, it's right upstairs) said I could have one. I went out to the "pound" and adopted one. He's a full grown male, already neutered and de-clawed (which was the only way I could have one) and I love him to death already. He's a very friendly cat and loves to be pet. He's big too, which I love. He's got sort of a bobcat/lynx coloration. I've named him Marius, but his nickname is Babycakes. =P
I'm really glad to have him and had to share the news. Also if anyone knows any good spells that you can do with your cat, or ones to talk to him as your familiar that'd be great.
Anyways here's a picture of him. (If it doesn't show up I'll try to fix it.)

Hey kitty! :) He's beautiful. I keep meaning to put up pictures of my cats, but always forget haha. That.. And the fact that two of them seem quite camera-shy!

The Bengal kitten isn't, though.. She loves the attention. Silly cat!

Nice to know you've got a friend to share the apartment with :).

welcome to the world of being a cat person :) We have four hahahah!

I don't know of any animal spells off hand, But if your little (big) darlin' is declawed, make sure he doesn't accidentily get outside, as it will be reeeally difficult for him to defend himself if he has to. And good luck being a new Cat-parent! :)

There are shots your partner can take that will help with teh allergies.. you may want to look into it! Could be a kitty in your future after all!

I would talk to your doctor about this! There might be more that can be done than you think!

good luck!

Awesome kitty. Is his back leg white or is he a tripod? can't really tell. He looks to be a mammoth sized tom though. My in-laws have a neutered orange tabby tom. He's a real sweety and loves to be lap carpet but, he's ridiculously fat! He flops in your lap and spreads out like an ooze. It's like he has flying squirrel flaps. Lovable bugger though.

Chatterbox: You know, the Egyptian hairless is a hypoallergenic cat. You just have to accept their looks. (Mr. Bigglesworth from Austin Powers if you don't know.) They have a good disposition from what I've read. Haven't been around one myself.

Blessed wishes.

I would love to have a cat but I myself is DEATHLY allergic. As in if I spend too much time with a cat (like days) I will go into an ashma attack.

I know there are shots and stuff, but I heard they contain steriods. I am not a fan of the 'riods as they make you angry. I had to take some for Mono last year and it made me sooooo emotional.

I wouldn't mind a Mr. Bigglesworth, but aren't they expensive?

Anyway. My little furball is a Russian Dwarf Hampster. Her name is Coheed. I wanted to name her (when we though she was a he) Stalin or Lenin (WHAT, she's Russian XD) but my boyfriend put his foot down on that. Almost was able to name her Franzie, for Franz Ferdinand, but I let slip it was actually for Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand - the dude who got assassinated by Serbs and started WWI. Oh well. The boyfriend isn't too into Bloody Historical references for the pets, lol

I've got several great spells for cats. Since you live in an apartment I figured it would be appropriate.

High Rise Spell

Ingredients"

Earth-filled window box
chives, fennel, tarragon, catmint and thyme
5 spiral seashells
3 crystals

1. The herbs may be varied but fennel and tarragon are firm favourites with cats, they go well with fish.

2. After planting up the box, lay the shells and crystals on the soil and say "May the elements be present in this home, creating balance for the cat who cannot roam. May the sea and the rocks and flora be known, especially when (your cat's name) is here alone"

This is from the book Spells for Cats by Daisy Pepper.

Anyone have any suggestions besides the obvious - hairball remedies and brushing teh cat often - how to prevent my cat from being sick and bringing up hairballs, she is a very small indoor cat who does not loook like she is two. She is full of fun and loves playing but she can bring up hairballs four or five nights in a row and I am concerned she may not be getting what she requires form her food?

Any ideas?

I hate cats. I mean truly hate them.

There are several females at the neighbours house and all the Toms use my back yard as a mating ground, leaving surprises for me in the morning, stinking my porch out and the worst thing is that both my one year old son and myself are allergic.

When the cats come to mate my poor little boy gets sick.

I am all for pets, but keep them in your own house.

I have written several times to the SPCA and Animal Control to trap them, but my pleas have fallen on deaf ears...well I do live in a third world country.

So I have sent a letter to all my neighbours and the SPCA and have told them that on my property it is open season on cats and have begun implimenting my booby traps and poisons.

Many of you may think I am cruel, but seeing my son sick is even more heart rending for me then a few cats.

I am glad you find happiness with your cat, just make sure he doesnt disturb the neighbours.

Hi Hera, unfortunately all cats bring up hairballs and get sick on a regular basis. Some cats do it more often than others but it's pretty normal behavior. I wouldn't worry too much. One thing you can do is consult with your vet about your cat's diet. He or she may be able to suggest a food regimen healthier than the cat-food available from your local grocer. Be aware that specialty cat food costs more money and you'll probably have to order it through your vet.

If you're worried I'd see the vet, but your situation sounds like normal indoor cat fair to me.

cheers,

T. Guy.
