Paranoid . . . Can Anyone Help?

Postby Shadow_Kitten » Tue Apr 24, 2007 3:45 am

Okay, so, I'm a pretty sensitive person & I get scared easily by watching horror movies. I can watch some . . . like, I can watch Scream (except for the opening scene-AAARRGGGHHHH!!!!!) but other than that . . .

Anyway, so, after watching scary movies, I get really paranoid & freaked out. Like, as a rule I don't watch horror movies because of how scared I get but for some stupid reason I decided to watch Scream 2 because me, being the idiot I am, thought I could take it. I mostly could! But I got really freaked when Randy died (anyone who's seen it will know what I'm talking about. He never had a chance!) & now I'm really scared of the killer from that movie. Anyone in a black outfit like that scares the crap outa me!

I've always been a little paranoid, like I almost never go outside by myself at night, even to put something in the bin & I get scared when I'm home by myself at night & I always look over my shoulder & turn on the light before I go into a room. But I was getting over it & now I don't think i ever will! Thank god I've never seen Nightmare on Elm Street or I'd be afraid to sleep!

Anyway, my point is, does anyone have a spell to cure paranoia? Or a courage or confidence spell? I tried to write on myself but I messed up.

Btw, I'm NEVER watching another Horor movie again. Which will be hard coz my best friend loves them, lol.

no offence but what your asking for is totally idiotic, this is self induced fear and paranoia, how do you expect to "cure" something of your own doing and especially in the nature of fear. fear is something that has to be beate, wishing it away doesnt work.

by the way...Randy's death was my favourite from that movie & Scream 3 sucked so you dont have to even consider seeing that...

I heard that Chamomile and Mint can be good for courage as well as Borage.

I found the following whilst browsing some sites on the web there are loads of spells around for confidence / courage which may be able to help you feel better. Don't know if it will work for you but here it is nonetheless:

Self Confidence Spell

Tools

* Four objects connected with your skills or successes
* Red cloths for wall hangings and the altar
* Brass candlesticks
* Red candles
* A large golden sun symbol (If you can make or find one)
* Red clothing for yourself

Instructions

After the circle is cast, the Quarters called and Deities (A god or goddess) invoked, pick up the first of your success objects. Face the East. Display it to the Guardians of that Quarter, and explain what it is and how it represents a success in your life.

Say aloud: "I am Confident!" Visualize the energy before you, and inhale deeply, saying in a strong voice: "I have the power of Air!" Repeat this process to the South (Fire), the West (water), and the North (earth).

Then stand in the centre of the circle, surrounded by your power objects. Meditate on all that you have achieved in your life: the obstacles you have overcome, the goals you have attained. If you wish, play stirring music while you do this. Then lift your arms and say in a mighty voice: "I am Spirit! SO MOTE IT BE!”

Wear something red on yourself for the next six days.

Repeat this excercise as often as necessary.

Sobek, that was uncalled for.

Adularia's spell is a good idea. But I might also suggest looking for or writing something that helps you to separate entertaintment from reality. You need to acknowledge that those movies are DESIGNED to make you feel that way. People watch them with the intent of getting scared (or laughing their butts off at the lack of realism or acting skills) so your reaction is really quite normal... however you need to be able to calm down after and recognize that the reaction doesn't need to become behavior.

I don't have a spell for you; I never give them out, I just recommend ideas for writing them yourself if you'd like, but Adularia does have a good start there. You may also want to do calming meditations (same time every day if you aren't already) and spend some time in the dark recognizing it's value and necessity in the balance of daylight. You'll find that there's nothing to fear there but fear itself (to start quoting cliches).

I would definately agree, meditation can work wonders! It's really helped me as I used to be very paranoid and worry all the time too (not about films, just life in general), but since I started meditating it's made me a much more balanced person. Although it did take me a while as it's pretty hard when you first start! But it's worth the effort. :)

ahwell it's been said now. life goes on i suppose ;)

"You need to acknowledge that those movies are DESIGNED to make you feel that way. People watch them with the intent of getting scared (or laughing their butts off at the lack of realism or acting skills)"

LOL, thats one of the main reasons i watch Horror.

Now i had an idea that may help you out a bit, no idea if your into crystals or whatever, but i think carrying a piece of Hematite or Aventurine may help you.

Or

Meditate with some malachite...not for too long though, then after that take a piece of Onyx, and focus the resonant energy from the meditation into it.

Ouch. Remind me not to ask advice from you again. Just because you say 'no offence' doesn't mean that people won't get offended. Something for you to think about.

I know spells can't cure fear, but they can help. Btw, Randy's death was probably what scared me most about that movie because he never had a chance to escape. There was nothing he could do to save himself. Plus it was unexpected.

I did find something yesterday that REALLY helped me! This is going to sound completely stupid & I'm certain that I will be told just how stupid I am but yesterday I started watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer & now all of a sudden it's like I'm a new person! I have lots of energy & . . . it's really weird! I all of a sudden have heaps of confidence in myself! I have self-esteem issues but whenever I watch something like Buffy I just get all excited & happy! I secretly would LOVE to be someone like Buffy Summers or Piper Halliwell . . . a girl who kicks ass & gets noticed. Someone powerful. Lol, now I sound like a freak.

My point is that by watching movies & TV shows about girls kickin ass has made me feel a lot safer. I dunno why. I know it's all fiction, but it's good to dream.

I haven't flinched or jumped or gotten spooked since I got back from Blockbuster! This is great! It's unusual for me, but I've never felt better about myself!

rofl i know i offend people, and in retrospect it's not something i care about, the words i use are used for a reason and they serve thier purpose. Also, using "no offence" is not to prevent offense, it's to show that offending is not my sole purpose though it does occur, so thats not really anything i need to think about. but next time however, i may forgo some idle pleasantries.

out of curiosity though, what season of Buffy are you watching...im a total fanatic!

See, Piper, shows that Buffy are perfect for you then because they show that there is a way to fight bad situations no matter how scary. You could look at it literally that she's beating up demons and monsters, or you could look at it figuratively as the girl who unlocked her inner potential to confront the 'demons' that are her life problems.

Keep watching Buffy, it's fun (and there's no shortage of cuties to look at! lol)! And stay away from the horror flicks. There's not actually anything to be scared of, but obviously they don't offer you any good entertainment.

:? (Scratching head) ....I've never understood why people watch scary movies and then are upset when they are, in fact, scared.....

...but then, I'm probably jealous since it's been decades since a movie actually scared me! Darn it all, I miss quaking in my boots for days after watching something scary. :D

Seriously, I think it's just a matter of maturity. I remember being pretty easily spooked in my teens and early twenties, but at some point it just went away. Maybe after I'd faced, and lived through, enough scary situations in real life, fiction didn't have any power over me anymore.

I absolutely agree that anything that makes you feel empowered is worthwhile, though, whether it's a TV show, a spell, meditation or anything else that works.

It's okay, I can be pretty offensive when I want to. Probably because I'm so sensitive. It's actually gotten me into a lot of trouble, lol. See, I don't like to take any crap from anyone & at my school that happens a lot. Not so muich to me, because I know how to take care of myself but to my friends. I have all these witty & sarcastic comments stored up ready for use, lol!

I'm watching Seasons 1 & 2. Half way between 2. I just watched the episode of Buffy & Angel's first date . . . AWW!!! I thought it was SO cute when he was in her room looking at her stuff & she scares him & he's holding that pig, lol! His face, so cute. I don't want him to leave!!!!!

"Keep watching Buffy, it's fun (and there's no shortage of cuties to look at! lol)!"

Tell me about it! I am completely in love with Angel! Every time I see him I start drooling & I get this dopey smile on my face, lol! Mmm . . . Angel . . . *drools* Spike's pretty hot too...

"(Scratching head) ....I've never understood why people watch scary movies and then are upset when they are, in fact, scared..... "

But I didn't know it would scare me. I've only ever seen 3 & 1/2 scary movies in my life. The Ring 2, The Ring, Scream & half of Scream 2. I stopped when they started climbing over the killer. The first one didn't scare me & I just assumed the second one wouldn't. I like number 1 because Rose McGowan's in it. That one was great!

"i hate watcing scary movies, but if i do, i watch another movie afterwasrds like a cartoon or a comedy or disney something that will make me forget about the movie..."

Yeah, me too. Like Team America or The Simpsons. Then after that & I go to bed I read books. Like, fairy tales or romance or something.

I remember what that can be like, dont change my dear girl!

"I'm watching Seasons 1 & 2. Half way between 2"

oooh, the Acathla season, so sad when Jenny dies, i loved her. but its a good season, and generally speaking they only get better with certain exception to a few happenings and about half of one of the latter seasons. angel really annoys me though, do you intend on watching Angel aswell as Buffy, spike is a major player in both.

"Keep watching Buffy, it's fun (and there's no shortage of cuties to look at! lol)!"

personally i'd disagree with that, there wasn't many hot people there.
though Willow and Xander as vampires...extremely hot...lol. as was buffy before she got really thin, other than that there wasnt anyone really, angel lost his charm really quick! but for me, my liking of someone even in TV is not governed entirely by looks...like they say, personality counts or something.

...lol, i think i'd better stop now with the buffy talk or i'll probably end up blurting out all of the cool stuff that happens.

Sorry, Sobek. I know a few people that have said the same as you but most people I know seem to ache for most of the Buffy cast ;) Angel did get old really fast for me though. But Spike was my favorite.
