"You are shrouded in mystery, which you love, but you have a lot of trouble expressing your feelings. You are very loyal and possessive, and you become jealous very easily. You have a great deal of courage and are very clear on what you want and how to get it. You are protective and will seek revenge on those who wrong you. You are also very clever and expect your lover to be attuned to your needs and wants."

Pluto will always be a planet in my mind!

And the moon is the moon but in traditional astrology it is a "planet" as is the sun. More like "influential celestial spheres" lol.

"Pluto will always be a planet in my mind!"

damn right it will!

ive never really associated moons and suns as planets with astrology, though i suppose it makes a certain kind of logical sense, but whether todays drop kicks class what as what they are still pretty influecial things.

those damn scientists piss me off...labelling everything is space when we can barely get anywhere out there.

I know, and its usually even that they just give things stupid numbers.....bar coded stars! Blah!

Labels in general annoy me....they are limiting.

'influential celestial spheres,' haa. now that's more like it.
well i wouldn't go so far as to classify earth's moon as a planet (what about all the other moons?), but i'm with you two on the pluto front. call me set-in-my-ways, but it's meant to be a planet.. dwarf or not.

Haha aw, poor Pluto, the odd little reject 'dwarf planet' sitting in an irregular, fluctuating orbit out on the edges of our solar system.

Technically, I believe it's a Kuiper Belt Object.. And the only reason it ever became a planet is because when it was first discovered, scientists widely over-exaggerated its dimensions. Technically, if we were to consider Pluto a real 'planet', then we would also have to consider several other objects within our Solar System as 'planets' too - in particular, Eris, which is located further away than Pluto.. But outsizes it by quite a large margin.

I believe that for a planet to be called a 'planet', it must:

- Be in orbit around the Sun
- Have sufficient mass such that its self-gravity has placed it in a state of equilibrium, creating an almost round shape
- Have cleared the area around its orbit

Pluto fails on account of its orbit intersecting that of Neptune.. Although I imagine the fact that one of its moons, Charon, is almost the same size as it doesn't really help, too (although this is an interesting fact in itself, for reasons I'll mention in a minute :P).

As such, it's been down-graded into being a 'dwarf planet', which follows essentially the same definition as a planet, except a dwarf has:

- Not cleared the area around its orbit, and
- Is not a satellite

As such, Pluto now takes its place amongst Ceres (in the asteroid belt), and Eris as a dwarf planet.. Although, several others may yet be added to this new classification, following further research. These include Pluto's largest moon, Charon, since it can be debated that Pluto and Charon are part of a binary planetary system, as opposed to Charon orbiting Pluto.. Since the point around which it orbits is not located within Pluto, rather, it is located at a common point between them.

Either way it would appear that, unfortunate as it may be for die-hard Pluto lovers, Pluto can no longer be considered to be a celestial body in the same sense as our 'major' planets. Sure, scientists are 'rewriting history' by changing its classification.. But, really, what does it matter? It's still there, and the fact that its classification has changed isn't suddenly going to throw a bunch of schoolchildren insane just because they learnt only last year that it was a planet .

*shrug* Things change as our understanding of the world / solar system / Universe around us evolve. We just gotta change with it, and realise that ultimately.. It doesn't really matter whether it's one or the other, eh? At the end of the day, it affects 99% of us in no way at all.. Unless you're an Astrophysicist haha.

I don't get why they they don't have Pluto as a planet anymore, though. They've had it as a planet for years; why should they change that now?

They can see further out than they used to, and look at objects with greater clarity than before.. Upon finding that there's larger objects out further than Pluto, which are similar to Pluto.. And upon final verification of The Kuiper Belt existing.. There was no way they could continue to allude to the fact that Pluto's the same kind of celestial body as the others we class as 'Planets'.

That's pretty much the crux of it :).

the thing i was reading after i discovered they dont class pluto as a planet was because it failed one of the criteria which was that it interferes with the orbit of another planet.

but you know, give em a hundred years and they'll decide the sun isnt really a sun for some stupid reason.

personally, i think we should take space at face values because we are never gonna know all the wonders to be able to classify everything.

I completely agree, all this huffing and fussing about whether it's a dwarf planet, a planet, a sub-planet or whatever is pure nonsense really.. And, ultimately, makes no difference at all. The only reason they bother trying to classify these things is because some areas of humanity are quite anal.

"Everything must have a name, a classification! What's more, it must be correct and up to date!", etc..

Whilst these anal scientific classifications mean little to nothing to most of us, they are still important.. Since it allows data to be stored in a neat, tidy and easily retrievable way, which is useful for scientific research purposes. Still, it is annoying that scientists have to slap a classification and name onto everything .

I once read a scientific definition of 'Love' once.. I'll try and find it later. Needless to say, it's eye-roll-worthy :).
