7 day candles
7 day candles
I burn 7 day candles. I like to know how do you put your energy into the candles to make them stronger, and if their anything else I should do.
Well, what kind of 7 day candles do you have? Are they the seven knob candles, that are ultimately strangely shaped tapers, or do you have those glass ones? There are a number of tecniques to use with them.
First, you don't want to dress them the way you dress tapers, as that can cause fires, thanks to the glass retaining heat as the flame "eats" the candle up.
There are a number of ways that I know of.
One is to focus on your goal BEFORE you start your ritual and visualize the result you want and put that energy into the candle, see the energy being contained by the wax inside the glass.
Second, you can get oils that suit your purpose (I tend to make my own, but I'm weird that way) and you can get that oil into the candle by taking a sharp pointy thing, like your athame or an awl and run a circle around the edge of the candle, (between the glass and the wax) and score a line in the wax clockwise and visualize your intent. Then, take the sharp end and stab a bunch of holes in concentric circles all the way to the wick. Then pour a bit of the oil into the candle and then meditate on your goal as above.
You can also carve symbols into the wax on the top of the candle, just be sure to avoid the wick in the center!
You can also sprinkle appropriate herbs into the candle either before you use it or even as a part of the spell while it's lit. Don't use too many or you may effect the candle's ability to burn.
I've also been known to make my own labels for those kind of candles... by picking out the right kind of picture on the computer and printing it out and then taping it to the outside of the candle. I haven't had any problems with the paper getting too hot, but you should keep a more careful watch on the candle when you tape paper to it. If that makes you too nervous, you can draw symbols on it with Sharpie or permanent markers... they even come in loads of colors these days and don't stink like they used to.
In short, you have lots of options!
