A MOST INCREDIBLE JOYFUL EXPERIENCE

Postby [echolady] » Sat Sep 08, 2007 4:28 am

I didn't really know where to put this but i had such a wonderful experience i had to share i am busting at the seems. Yesterday i was able to help my friend while she delivered her first child.

2 years ago I watched my nephew be born into this world but only watched .yesterday i took a very active role and thank the gods for allowing me such a wonderful experience.

My friend is 21 married 11 months and her husband was at bootcamp, and no family to speak of. It was me her and the mother of her X boyfriend ( weird right, this lady will call her jill, became very attached to my friend and took over as a mother figure to her many years ago ).

My friend was in labor for 26 hours, her epidural wore off 3 hours before she delivered. I have never felt such an array of emotions before, i held her hand through the back to back contractions while jill breathed with her and wiped her face with a cool cloth. I begged her to break my fingers if she needed to while she contracted HARD in the middle of checking her dialation and held back my own tears while she screamed and sobbed.
I took turns with jill swapping between holding her leg in the stirrup and bracing her back and neck while she curled and pushed . Sounds terrible but......

then i was the first of us to see the baby crown, then i watched as the doctor pulled him out and got to tell her that her wonderful baby was born! I got to be 1 of the 1st to see this wonderful new life my friends had made! I got to hold her hand as she took her 1st look at her baby and sobbed that he is beautiful ( i wanted to sob to but in my tiredness was so afraid that my own crying would steel some of the limelight she had earned ), i got to hold him in his 1st hour of life, and then later she invited me to watch her breastfeed for the 1st time ( i know that sounds weird but it is truely beautiful, and i was in the room trying to look away and giver her privacy, she just looked over and said "sweety u can come see if u want" ).

Mostly i got to help my friend through a horribly painful but incredible experience. Today i am so amazed at the world i don't know what to do with myself!

Thank u all for reading and sharing in my joy for a moment, i just had to tell someone before i exploded!

What a wonderful experience for you!

Keeping the ex's mom as a friend isn't weird at all. Family is what you make it.
