I Have Been Sick to My Stomach All Day

Postby [Moondaughter] » Fri Apr 18, 2008 7:36 pm

My mom found this one thing about in artist in Costa Rica. There was this artist who chained a dog to a wall and "starved it," and put it on as an exhibit. What actually had happened was that the artist was actually feeding the dog when no one was looking. The point of the whole thing was that the dog was starving and no one said anything, fully knowing that the dog was starving, dieing.
However, the problem now is that the artist wants to do it again. There are petitions going trying to stop the artist from doing this again. But, there are people who are defending his act by saying that it is art. When really, if you start calling this art, then can you start calling any other form of torture art. This just made me sick to my stomach and I thought I should share to make sure I was not the only one that found this wrong.

I cannot fathom why anyone would want to hurt an animal. It makes me so sad. I look in my dogs eyes and I see truth, faithfulness and most of all so much love. I cannot understand why anyone would do that. I am sick now as well!

Wait, I'm confused. You said he didn't actually starve the dog, just pretended to show that people have no moral fiber in their bodies. So, this time is he intending to starve the dog for real? If that's the case I feel someone should pay him a short visit to teach him something about physical discomfort and pain.

I believe that he has no intention of ever starving the dog. However, this poor animal is chain to the wall, on an exhibit. And people think the dog is starving, and yet they are not saying anything. The artist is saying this is okay, because it is for the purpose of art. By the same token, I feel that if you can justify this with the claim of art, you could justify torture with the same claim. A little crazy and sickening, no doubt.

That is very sad. The idea od starvign a dog is sick and twisted, no matter if he really is starvign it or not. I don't understand who no one ever says anything about it when they see it. I also don't understand how that could be consdered, "art".

Thanks for a link to that info about this MoonDaughter. LunaAmor has a link to a petition regarding this (the thread's entitled "I had been sick of my stomach all day response") ...this link should point you there: http://www.everythingunderthemoon.net/f ... php?t=7928 -if anyone wants to sign the petition. (But it is in spanish).

I don't condone animal cruelty in any fashion, for any reason- even if it's just an act for show.

~~~~~~~
In memory of "OUR" courageous little soul
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
We LOVE you, little dog.
I think, no matter if he is starving the dog or not, that it is a horrid way to treat animals. It also disturbs me that knowone says anything to him. People really can be a disgusting animal sometimes.
I hope the petitions work and he is stopped.
Thanks for the post
