Mirror... my own reflections

Postby Moonjava » Mon Nov 24, 2008 9:28 pm

nothing to say really...
my poems are little pieces of my soul.

I hope you enjoy.

Mirror
enemy of mine
you taunt, you tease
you tell me I’m not quite right.
You laugh at my curves,
mock my desire for beauty.
Oh mirror,
those horrible things you say,
you remind me of the pages
with the beautiful faces
the thin bodies,
the perfect skin, expensive clothes.
You laugh as I comb my hair,
put on my eye liner
telling me to stop trying.
Well, today, I have something to say.
Mirror, you can shove it.
I am beautiful
I have hair that shines
and smells of flowers and magic.
My brown eyes have green flecks
and sparkle when I laugh.
My curves speak of softness,
just like my heart.
They also scream of beauty
those models know nothing of.
Stop taunting me,
that face staring back from your glass.
Who knew those voices
would belong to my own body.
Today is the end of your criticism.
Today starts the beginning of me.
I am Sara
I am unique
I am beautiful
I am more than what you see
And no more will you mock me
mirror of glass and nothing more.
You cannot tell me who I am
anymore
