Hi there,

This is my first post on this forum. I've been viewing this forum, with interest, over the past while and I finally got around to registering.

Now, before I explain my dream I would like to state that I am new to all of this. I don't exactly know what my beliefs are at this point in my life. I am 21 years of age and I was raised in a home with basic Christian views; if you're a good person you go to heaven, if you're a bad person you go to hell. Because of this I've always had a sense of guilt and slight fear in my life when I did something that was considered wrong or immoral by regular standards. My mother is a firm believer in the concept of an afterlife, mainly heaven and hell. My father, I've never really been too sure. He's not one to express his thoughts on the subject, and to be quite honest I've never really inquired.

I believe there is a higher power and an ultimate reason for existence, but not necessarily in a single entity known as "God". That being said, even typing this now I feel an anxiety that I am "sinning" by not knowing what I believe in. By not believing in an almighty power that I was taught to believe in as a child and even now as a young adult.

I apologize for the back story, but it is relevant to my dream which I will tell you about now. This was a brief aspect of a much larger dream, but this is the only part I can remember and it's the only part that really stood out.

A few months ago I had a dream that my fiance, two of my friends, and myself were driving along a fairly wide highway. I was the driver of the vehicle and my fiance was in the passenger seat. As we were driving down the highway there was a transfer truck heading towards us in the opposite lane, and for some reason in the dream I attempted to cross the opposing lane thinking I could make it but ultimately our vehicle and the truck collided head on.

At this point there was no pain or an actual physical collision, and its as if the truck passed through us all. The world was empty, and my dream focused on the highway, our vehicle, and the truck as it passed through us. As it did I began to lift from my seat(trying to grasp on to anything I could because I *knew* I just died and was going to Heaven and didn't want to leave yet). As I began to rise, I kept on sincerely apologizing to my fiance as I knew I had taken her life due to my own actions. Shortly after I started apologizing I felt worry and sadness... and then I began drifting down ward, as if my actions warranted a place in Hell. My body was about half way into the ground and then I woke up from the dream.

I was always under the impression that you are unable to die in your dreams because your mind can't grasp the concept due to not knowing what happens as/after you die. This is what made me really think about the dream... it's probably the most thought provoking dream I've ever had. It's not totally unrelated either. In July of 2007 my fiance and the above mentioned friends and I all went on a road trip together. The only difference between then and now is that she was driving during the actual trip, and I was driving in the dream.

I would really appreciate any insight on this dream. Of course, I'm not looking for answers... just help trying to understand it. What could cause something like this? I am open to any ideas or concepts. Please, share as you wish :)

It sounds to me like your struggling with yourself and your afraid of not being good enough to get into heaven.
Your ashamed of your feelings and their communicating to you, only it gets 'warped' in a sense, because of how intense your feelings against it are.
So your having a tug of war inside yourself, over what you believe to be right or correct, and you don't know what to do.
I suggest doing chakra work(root) and trying to meditate, learning to "let go".
I have a natural instinct to fight against things that aren't really in my control, especially with myself. This has negative consequences on those closest to you and the people you love.
I have had so many problems because I fight it, but sometimes you just need to let it go. I mean don't you think that if you tried your best to be a good person that the Christian God would still accept you? I mean, you are only human, you cannot be expected to know all the answers.
So just cut yourself some slack.

Sorry to ask. Did the dream feel somewhat real? What you have described could be a 'timeline event'. Maybe the event did happened, but your timeline got changed, and the transfer of the event came through in a dream in your currant timeline. And when the event took place in your currant timeline, did you feel anything strange when you was in the car? Something like da jar vu?

The dream felt extremely real, so much that the anxiety I felt in the dream stayed with me as I woke up in a panic. I haven't noticed any kind of de ja vu pertaining to anything like that scenario.

Hi Din, I'll be glad to offer an interpretation for you, if you'd like, but I need to clarify: what's a 'transfer truck'? Do you mean like an 18-wheeler "big rig" truck? Or a moving truck? ...Something else? Each aspect of a dream is significant, so I want to make sure I understand that part before giving you my take on your dream. :28:

Just a quick start:
Driving
To dream that you are driving a vehicle, signifies your life's journey and your path in life. The dream is telling of how you are moving and navigating through life. If you are driving and cannot see the road ahead of you, then it indicates that you do not know where you are headed in life and what you really want to do with yourself. You are lacking direction and goals. If you are driving on a curvy road, then it indicates that you are have difficulties in achieving your goals and the changes associated with it.

...I'll get more in depth with the definitions and an interpretation after I clarify the 'truck' question. :28:

Blessings!

Hi MoonStone.

Just to confirm, it was a big rig 18 wheeler, but it did not have a trailer. Only the truck itself. It was also black.

Thank you, I look forward to what you have to say. :)

Sure thing, Din... and thanks for the clarification. (Colors are also very important, so if there were more colors that stood out in your dream, please post them and I'll include them in the interpretation.)

I will have to get to this tomorrow though as I've run out of time tonight... but I will! :28:

Well, the truck was black, and for some reason the trucks grill(silver in color) stands out most when I think about it. Pre-crash, traffic on said highway wasn't too bad if I recall, I remember cars but didn't focus on any of them. It was day time, and it was sunny. I recall grass on both sides of the highway.

I hope it helps :)

I'm sorry Din, I've been really busy lately and haven't had the chance to get to this yet. (I'm here now, though!) :28: I'm glad you sent me a reminder.

Oh, and by the way, you said:
I believe there is a higher power and an ultimate reason for existence, but not necessarily in a single entity known as "God". That being said, even typing this now I feel an anxiety that I am "sinning" by not knowing what I believe in. By not believing in an almighty power that I was taught to believe in as a child and even now as a young adult.
...there's a name for this, it is a literal belief system all of its own; called "Agnostic". :28:
I was actually raised that way, or rather; raised in a way that I could choose the right path for me without penalty or grief... so I'm quite familiar with the Agnostic way of thinking. Unfortunately for you, your Christian upbringing and the system you were taught as "the truth" is now what's causing your feelings of betrayal to your faith, yourself and your family. Honestly, that's the worst part of any religion, I think- when it causes someone to question if they're a horrible person for even thinking outside of the confines of their "box". No religion should make someone feel bad about themselves and as though they are betraying their God, just for having their own individual thoughts and opinions, if you ask me.

Ok, first some definitions, then the interpretation.

Driving (again.)
-To dream that you are driving a vehicle, signifies your life's journey and your path in life.

Highway
-To see a highway in your dream, represents your sense of direction and your life's path. Consider the conditions of the highway which will reveal how much you feel in charge of your life. A smooth, straight highway signifies inner peace, while a winding, bumpy road reflects emotional distress/disharmony.

Road
-To see a road in your dream, indicates your sense of direction and pursuit of your goals. To see a winding, curvy, or bumpy road in your dream, suggests that you will encounter many obstacles and setbacks toward achieving your goals. You may be met with unexpected difficulties.
-To see a smooth road bordered by green trees and flowers, denotes a steady progress and steady climb up the social ladder. If the road is straight and narrow, then it means that your path to success is going according as planned.
-To see an unknown road in your dream, signifies that you new project will cause more grief than it is worth and a waste of time.

Truck
-To see a truck in your dream, implies that you are overworked. You may be taking on too many tasks and responsibilities and are weighed down.

Car
-To dream that you are driving a car, denotes your ambition, your drive and your ability to navigate from one stage of your life to another. Consider how smooth or rough the car ride is. If you are driving the car, the you are taking an active role in the way your life is going. However, if you are the passenger, then you are taking a passive role. Overall, this dream symbol is an indication of your dependence and degree of control you have on your life.
-To dream that you are almost hit by a car, suggests that your lifestyle, beliefs or goals may be in conflict with another's. It may also be symbolic of a jolting experience or injured pride.

Automobile
-To dream that you are riding in an automobile, signifies that even in pleasant situations, you will still be restless and uneasy.

Crash
-To dream that you are in a car crash, indicates that your beliefs, lifestyle, or goals are clashing with another's. It may also represent a shocking situation or painful experience. Alternatively, car crashes may forewarn of your dangerous or careless driving habits.

Accident
-To dream that you are in an accident, signifies pent-up guilt in which you are sub-consciously punishing yourself over. Perhaps you have done something that you are not proud of. Alternatively, the accident may symbolize an error or mistake your have made. Accident dreams also represent your fears of being in an actual, physical accident. You may simply be nervous about getting behind the wheel or that the dream is trying to warn you of some accident.
-To dream of a car accident, symbolizes your emotional state. You may be harboring deep anxieties and fears. Are you "driving" yourself too hard? This dream may tell you to slow down before you hit disaster. You need to rethink or re-plan your course of actions and set yourself on a better path.
-To dream that a loved one dies in an accident, indicates that something within your own Self is no longer functional and is "dead". It is also symbolic of your own relationship with that person.

Black
-Black symbolizes the unknown, unconscious, danger, mystery, darkness, death, mourning, hate or malice.
-If the feeling in the dream is one of joy, blackness could imply hidden spirituality and divine qualities.

Silver
-Silver represents justice and purity. It is symbolic of some protective energy.

Grass
-To see green grass in your dream, suggests that there is a part of yourself that you can always rely on. The dream is also symbolic of natural protection. Also consider the phrase "the grass is always greener on the other side." Do you always compare yourself with others and look at what other people have?

Traffic
-To dream that you are in traffic, signifies frustrations in life and that things are not going as smoothly as you would like it to. You feel stuck at where you are in life. (So in this case, it's the opposite- you feel you're somewhat free to move around as you please, and are not stuck in a frustrating, confined space, essentially.)

Friend
-To see friends in your dream, signifies aspects of your personality that you have rejected, but are ready to incorporate and acknowledge these rejected aspects of yourself. The relationships you have with those around you are important in learning about yourself. Additionally, this symbol foretells of happy tidings from them and the arrival of good news.
-To dream that your best friend is dying, suggests that some aspect or quality that your best friend possess is dying within your own self.

~*~

I think your dream is quite interesting, really. You're traveling along peacefully with those who make you feel as though you "belong" and in an attempt to gain for yourself, what you perceive and feel is that of pure, protective energy, you veer off into the black and silver truck. However, you are taking your loved ones with you and are fearing that by your personal choice you're trying to make for yourself, you're taking them along with you, whether they want to be there or not. In a nutshell, this dream speaks of your internal battle where not only do you long for more, but you fear the change as well; I think you're expressing your concerns that you may lose everything you care about if you follow your heart.

That said, I do hope you know that's not the reality though... you can talk to your fiancee and friends about your religious feelings and bounce it off of them too... a conversation with those you love and a conversation with and within yourself is what's missing here... and the key to changing this dream from one that plagues you to one that guides and teaches. :28:

~Hope that helps! (Again, I'm sorry it took so long!)

Bright Blessings,
MoonStone

(PS...So far as dying in your dreams, it's not as infrequent as one may think- generally, the simple act of there being a/your "death" in a dream is what's important, not so much how it happens or what happens afterward. The "death" symbolizes a part of you that you don't like and wish to have change, and the other circumstances in the dream point toward what that "thing" is. :28:)
