Discovering My Spirit Guide

I'm thinking about finding out who my Spirit Guide is, but I'd like to know what methods have worked for you as this would obviously be my first time and I don't wanna mess anything up or end-up irritating the spirits. ^^;

A friend of mine recently told me they think my Guide is a wolf. When I asked why, he said that the day he first met me, after being around me for a little while, a wolf appeared to him.

His own Guide is a wolf, but this one wasn't his and he seemed certain it was mine.

I'm trying to keep a clear and open mind about this, and I'd like to find out for sure just who my guide is.
