Just really really tired..

Postby KaidaPyralis » Thu Mar 11, 2010 10:14 am

Okay, I really don't want this to sound like the self pitying rant of someone with no real problems...

I'm getting far too tired. I'm in my final year at uni, take part in a few bands and dance teams, have a job two days a week and teach music privately during the week. I have a boyfriend that lives at the other end of the country so seeing him is a challenge. I'm just starting to feel like I don't have enough in me to keep doing everything.

Every weekend I end up leaving uni to travel somewhere for some dance or music thing. I don't sleep enough, don't eat properly, but people telling me to do so doesn't help. I'm just a busy person. I don't seem capable of pulling my life back into shape. I've been ill for months now with one thing or another. Colds, ear infections, a nasty cough at the moment. I'm always tired, and my days are so full there's no time to stop and recouperate. I know I do too much but I love most of the stuff I do, and the rest is stuff I have to do, work or uni or whatever. I'm a determined person and I keep sticking things out, but it's starting to really wear me down, and to cause arguments with my boyfriend. Our time is so pressured because we don't get a lot of it, and we're trying to make our own music stuff work so we have that over our heads as well while trying to enjoy being a couple. We're only 6 months in and starting to act like 6 years. He doesn't get that I'm stressed all the time, not just him, and I can't switch out of the "business mode" I use to get everything done and be me again with him. It's not so much that my life is really hard, just that it's constant and there's no room to relax or even stop and prepare for the next thing. I feel like the stress and tension is just building in my system and not going anywhere, like it's poisoning me.

I suppose what I need is a booster to keep my head above water while I sort out what can go. At the moment I feel like I'm constantly playing catch up with myself with everything from work to my health. I'm interested to hear about anything, from destress routines to teas for sleep or energy. Anything that might help.

Give yourself an hour a day, even an hour every 2 days where you sit down, listen to music, eat a proper meal, have a cup of tea or coffee or some other hot relaxing drink and relax.

Spend the entire hour chilling out, dont do any work, music stuff, research, studying etc.. just relax for a *full* hour. Not 59 minutes, an hour!

If you have a lot to do then write it down on a piece of paper and leave it in another room. You will take care of that in an hour, not now.

You definitely need to eat proper meals though, itll boost your immune system so you wont be ill and make you feel a lot better. A real meal doesnt take that long to cook to be honest, some things can just be oven cooked (eg pies, pizza, jacket potato, pasta bake) or you coild do a real quick stir fry if you chop up some chicken beforehand and then fry it off in a hot pan, whack in a stir fry vegetable mix and a packet of sauce from a supermarket and youre done. If you miss out meat then you could have a veg stir fry in 10 minutes!

I'd suggest taking some multivitamins for a while too, to help build you back up. Do make sure to eat properly, as shadowx suggests. If you start to feel tired when you're in the middle of something then snack on a banana - they're great energy releasers.

Have a hot shower in the morning, to help wake you up.

On the mystical side, I recommend looking at energy and chakra work. There are loads of meditations out there, so you should have no trouble finding one. A ten minute meditation in the morning will help set you up for the day. Good luck!

Hi Kaida,

I know exactly what you mean and been there, done that! In fact, over the last few months, gone back to doing that!

I think like the others have advised you really need to take a breather and maybe do some chakra work. Some of my friends swear by evening primrose oil but do read the contraindications before you take them!

You could try transcendental meditation for abt 20 mins a day; think of an empowering mantra/syllable and chant it in your mind as it drifts and refocuses and drifts again but let it do what it wants bringing it back when u realise it has drifted - you might feel a floating sensation around the end of the session the very first time after which you will wake automatically or it may take a few times. Dont use an alarm or anything for the 20 min mark but if you feel its been going on and on stop it or you might get a headache from concentrating too much!

you could try this just before bed and at least it'll give you a good night's rest - or in the morning and it should give you energy for the day - or during the day when it could be like a power nap! lol

Another amazing thing to try if you can is reiki....see if you can self help or go to a reiki practitioner to open up your channels

Hope this helps! Good luck with everything....and remember it does all work out well in the end!

Just thought of adding something...another thing I used to do to relieve tension when I was younger (and crazier) and things got way too much for me to handle was go hug a tree preferably when no one was around and scream at the top of my lungs (and run away if anyone did come to investigate...lol)...but seriously, that somehow helped me as I visualised my worries flowing thru the tree into the ground and I was all calm again

I know it sounds crazy and weird but hey, whatever helps! :)

I get a lot of confused energy from all of this. I'm not sure what others suggested but here is basic freedom in a package :)

1) Clear minded meditation. Silence your mind and breath easily.
2) Take care of yourself in your daily life. Trust in source energy.

Much love,

Kaida, I'm exhausted just reading about your life!

Here's a thought that's so basic that it may be getting missed: are you an introvert? We make up 50.7 to 57 percent of the U.S. population. That's right: *over* 50 percent of Americans are introverts, but we belong to a culture that sells interaction heavily--to the point that it can and will hurt you, if you do not allow yourself to explore the way you naturally function.

I'd write more, but have to run off to work. You might want to try an online test or three if you are unsure if you are an introvert.
