But what is the difference between heaven, summerlands, the pure lands?
A name, and nothing more.
I dont believe any of these mythical places exist. I think death is neutral, we all go to the same place, more or less. We can take into account the idea of the various levels of the astral planes whereby a purer being, or someone who is more in tune with their spiritual side, be they pagan, christian, buddhist etc... it doesnt matter, will go to a "higher" level of vibration due to the fact they are "in tune" and that those who are least in tune, IE greedy, materialistic, destructive will go t a "lower" level of the planes. But even so it is my belief that the only thing that changes is the amount of energy in existence in these dimensions. As I and someone else discussed a little while ago, science, and spiritualism both agree there are more than 4 dimensions (we live in a 4d world, 3 space dimensions, up/down left/right forward/backwards and one time dimension) science puts the minimum at around 10, taking into account the weakness of gravity compared with the 3 other primitive forces. Anyhoo... Science and spiritualism also agree, to an extent, that as the number of dimensions increases, so does the energy present. So, to summarise it is my belief that death is neutral, there may or may not be "levels" whereby the higher level contains beings of what we would call purity, and goodness, and the lower levels which contain entities which are low on energy, naturally destructive and uncaring. In the christian explanation is that the top level is heaven, where angels etc... reside and the lower is hell, where demons exist.
Many mainstream religions agree on that.
The second question of whether or not only pagans go to the summerlands, i would ask you a question. Why?
Think about it, in depth. Much of what i say comes from reading things, mainly on forums and then i go away and think... Deeply, thinking all the time, if this thing is true, then this thing cant be true, but if that thing cant be true then that means that doing that is not possible, but i think that IS possible, so how can this be?
Following a structured path is fine, I see you are wiccan from what you have been posting, which is fine. However i encourage you, and everyone else, to think outside the box. If an experienced wiccan tells you that we go to the summerlands when we die ask them how it works? Who is there? How was the summerlands created? What happens if you like really warm places and i HATE warm places and would prefer a cold, snowy summerlands. How is it that we can both be in the summerlands when we like different things? Perhaps the summerlands have pplaces that are warm, and others that are cold, but then do the summerlands have weather? And if so it means they have an atmosphere and therefore gravity, as well as obeying the rules of physics that science understands today, and if that is true then are the summerlands not just another planet? If not why not. And if they are a planet then how is it that our minds and memories, experiences, travel from earth to this other planet? and is it possible for scientists to send a spaceship and land there? If they did land there would they become dead? As the summerlands is for spirits, or would something else happen?

My great grandmother use to say that what we will believe in life will happen to us in death, meaning our brains and hearts get so wrapped up in an idea of what the afterlife is that with our death, with our hoping those places exist we create them, but it's one per person as each person has their own idea. So it's basically whatever you want, it's you imagination, and I want pink unicorns who shoot rainbow lasers from their horns. But what is the difference between heaven, summerlands, the pure lands?

They say only Silver Bullets kill the beast inside.....
I have been to Summerland, hence my board name. Has anyone seen "What Dreams May Come" with Robin Williams or read the book? My guide has taken me there twice and I can't wait to return. It appears as whatever the soul wants it to be.For me and one other person that I know, it appeared as a Grecian city. Our souls appear in their true nature.

thats cool thanks. One more thing i guess ill ask do you think every one goes to the summerlands or just pagans because i heard very devoted busddist or how ever you spell the word go to a place when they die called the pure lands.
No, not all pagans go to Summerland. Summerland stems from a neo-wiccan belief developed by Gardener that's based off TÃr na nÓg, an Irish legend of the Otherworlds.
Also, Pagan is an umbrella term that encompasses many different varieties of polytheistic faith. Slavic, Norse, Greek, Celtic, etc. Each of these beliefs have their own mythologies that deal with the philisophical and moral questions of life after death.
As someone who appears to be interested in the religious nature of paganism, you should try to find a belief set that you feel is closest to your own personal beliefs- or find one that is the closest to your ancestory. Whether that be Neo-Wicca or BTW beliefs including Summerland, or Egyptian mythology. Some people even mix and match mythologies, Gods, and beliefs. (That isn't something I agree with, personally.)
The Gods we worship write their names on our faces; be sure of that. A person will worship something, have no doubt about that. We may think our tribute is paid in secret in the dark recesses of our hearts, but it will out. That which dominates our imaginations and our thoughts will determine our lives, and our character. Therefore, it behooves us to be careful what we worship, for what we are worshipping we are becoming.

As believers in the folk-religion we are studying, we seek after mysteries that expand the scope of our gods and our understanding of them, not reductionist theories that reduce them to manageable and socially productive "functions".

i do understand what your saying shadow but to me it sounds like your describing what i have heard refrenced as the void yes i do belive in there are different levels of afterlife the void is one of them and i like your use of everything and nothing theory but what about the fact that has stood the test of time. Giving something belief is giving it power. So if the realms of existance exist because it does not exist then why cant it exist? there is a point that you have to admit your over thinking it. Im not trying to damn you I want more of your opinion because you do think outside of the box. As for who created these places my theory is the human race has put the energy of belief into it and beleif is a very powerful force

The OP was a complete [censored] but i will revisit the thread anyway.
Belief is powerful but only so much as shaping energy.
The thing that interests me is the coincidence between the old belief of 7 layers of existence (physical and then 6 spiritual) and the current scientific theory of 10 dimensions.
Doesnt sound like a link, 7 and 10, but... If we look at the 4 dimensions (ive said this before but here goes..) time, we cant exist without time, we couldnt be born, grow or die. the Z axis (eg forward/back) if we didnt have that we would be like a flat sheet, fine... except we have a foodpipe which goes from mouth to bum, cut a channel through a sheet of paper and the two halves fall apart, so we couldnt exist without that dimension either. Same goes for the other 2 dimensions. So, 4d is the lowest we can live at. 10 dimensions - 4 = 6. So if 4d is level 1 we now have 6 more dimensions which in theory could support some kind of existence. 6+1 = 7.
Nice... but i still cant write that theory into my belief system.

oh definatly time is everything and we would be nothing without it. We certainly do live in a world where everything is a possibility but nothing can occur but see this is why i love the mysteries of spiritualism everything is correct because at the same time everything is wrong but nothing cannot be right unless everything is wrong. Time always does play a key role in figuring things out it has taken me 2 years of spirituality just figure out what can and cannot be a possibility in my own head but not everything in the world is right unfortunatley the only way i see it we will only know until some drastic happens or until we are dead ourselves till then we just sit here and ponder.
