Communicating and meeting your spirit guide?

I was wondering if you could all post things like how you met your guide, how so you communicate with him/her? Is your guide a loved one that's passed on? What they have helped you learn? Things like that.

My guides were visiting me in my dreams first. Trying to save me, but I didn't recognize them and therefore they couldn't help me. They were part in the stories I told, but still I didn't realize them for what they were. They were always there but I didn't see, soit was no help.

It was only until my life broke down and I started trancing uncontrollable that I realized that those were my guids. The most important one is the wolf. He protects me and safe me. No harm can come to me, when he is with me. I trust him completly. Another important one is my future self (called Soul). She provides energy, love and advices when I need it. Also she sends healing energy to myself. A third one is a dragon, but we only rarely see. He is able to provide me with unlimited strength, energy and power for a short period of time, when it's really necessary.

I normally talk to them while journeying, meeting them in my safe place. But sometimes I will just talk to them when it's needed, without any preparation. The wolf followed me a while around, to let me feel safe when I feared almost all the time. Soul talked to me, when I felt down, had trouble accepting myself and was burning out.

They both taught me a lot about myself but also gave me insights on magic and other stuff.

What an excellent question!! I have several guides and spirit animal familiars.

Tobias Ethan Malcolm (died at 19 in 1982 or '83) is my primary Guardian. He was one of the first to attempt getting blue hair, he had a band called Jim's Malignant Malicious Demolition Militia, and he wore combat boots bought from the army surplus store. He died before I ever met him in real life, as I was born in 1984. When I turned 3, my spirit was crying out for help because my father is an evil man. Toby answered that call. At first I thought he was tangible. By the time I was 5, I realized only I could see him.... but sometimes animals could see him too. I called him, "A Pippy from the Oldies"... I suppose I thought he was a freaky hippie, LOL. He died suddenly, so hadn't even realized he was actually, certainly, truly dead until he met me. We helped each other get through some really dark times. I see spirits constantly, so Toby helped me feel sane and chased away the worst ones. He still does that from time to time, but in 22 years of togetherness, a lot has changed. He has evolved into a higher being and sometimes travels the universe, leaving me with my other guardians for up to two years at a time (the two year stretch was scary.... I thought I'd lost him. He's since promised never to be gone more than a year). When I was in highschool, I used to let him possess me and hang out with my girlfriends. They enjoyed this a lot, since he's got a very distinct personality that girls go crazy for.... Lets just say my mouth was making out with girls before I realized that I'm bisexual. But there are definitely downsides to having a punk rocker from the eighties as your Primary Guide. I get made fun of. Older mystics often simply don't believe me or believe I am extremely misled. Some of my other guardians are very traditional and ancient, so they are annoyed by Toby and his rowdy ways. But I love it all. We're in this for the long haul. I actually look forward to my own death so he and I can rock out like we've always wanted to...... but of course, I have to finish all of my tasks here on earth first..... This is how he prevented me from committing suicide as a teen... he explained that you have to eat your etheric vegetables before dessert, even if they taste like shit. So, I could go on about Toby for pages and pages.... we used to communicate through actual words a lot when I was a child. Nowadays an actual sentence is rare. We speak by exchanging energy.... images, emotions, ideas.. they all flash instantly before my eyes and then I know he's here and what he's up to. Without Toby, I don't believe I would have had the courage to make it through my childhood and teens. Without Toby, I don't believe my spiritual powers would be half as strong. And without Toby, I'd have had half as many girlfriends in my life..... he's taught me a LOT. So, if you ever randomly smell toast and have no idea why.... Toby is visiting.... )O( R )O(

Krystal Raven, how did u first get into contact with your spirit guide- or any of them? What would u suggest is the best method? Is it meditation, dreams, ouija board...?

When I used to ouija board with my friends (yes, i used that as a verb ) I had several contacts with this boy from what I assumed was the forties of 50s... he used "jiminy cricket!" as an expression of surprise often... I was much younger (11 or 12) and he seemed to be around my age. I haven't had any spirit contact since. I wish I could remember his name =(
Should I try to use the ouija board again, or is there a more effective method?

I see spirits constantly, so I didn't really need to look for a way to make contact with my primary guide.... if you asked me at age three, Toby walked up to me "just like a real person' and introduced himself. To find your own personal spirit guide, I DO NOT recommend the ouija. Ouija boards are not themselves evil, but they are uncleansed portals that can bring extremely dark energy into your life.

Making spirit contact and finding your own guide are two very different pursuits. To make spirit contact, you should visit your local graveyard's mausoleum with a medium parchment. The people in the walls have a tendency to talk, and they're usually quite happy to stay where they are rather than follow you home. A medium parchment can also be used to communicate with your guides after you've established contact with them.

To create a medium parchment (the sacred Mother of all Ouija boards):

a large piece of thick paper or posterboard
a permanent pen that writes legibly
a white candle
a fresh sprig of rosemary
a pointer (whatever you choose should be easy to move across the page, easy to hold with both hands at once and easy to tell which letter its pointing to)
a length of ribbon or twine

place the blank parchment before you in a way you will be comfortable to write. light the candle, and place it to the right, summoning whatever Deity you wish to bless this sacred tool. I highly recommend Isis-Hecate or Isis-Inanna. Begin with YES and NO at the bottom of the page. Place NO to the far left and YES to the far right. Then put HELLO to the far right at the top and GOODBYE at the far left at the top. Fill in the letters and numbers as you wish, but in a way that is easy to follow. As you are writing out the medium parchment, sing a song or chant a phrase that is honoring to the dead. When it is complete, rub the entire surface of the paper with the sprig of rosemary, saying, 'It is so!' until you are finished. Then, place the pointer upon the page and blow out the candle. Roll up the medium parchment, stick the pointer inside, and tie it with the ribbon or twine. Thank the Divine for helping.


Now, to answer your question about how to initially contact a spirit guide. You must intentionally call them. Most likely, they are already with you and are patiently waiting for you to intentionally contact them. Meditation is the best way to begin feeling their energy around you. Write down images, sounds, colors, smells.... anything that you experience while meditating upon the identity of your guides. As you begin to collect this information, the link between you begins to open up. Once you feel you've spiritually come into contact with the same energy over several meditations, use the parchment to communicate!

Thanks KrystalRaven! I like the parchment... sounds like it's a lot more personal. I always feel more connected through something I make myself.
