Healing based in History

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to talk to me about current Wiccan healing issues and what they are originally based in. Where do healing spells originate from? What is the basis for Wiccan healing? I'm looking to further understand Wiccan healing and what to believe or not. I'm conflicted and trying to understand whether these things will actually work for me and what they are based in factually.
