I have no idea what happened to me I've never experienced something like this before

I feel a special connection to the Greek polytheistic tradition. I've always felt connected to Persephone, but on a more identifying level... my experiences with suicide attempts seem to parallel a decent to the underworld, a young girl turned dark Queen, waiting underground, more mature and powerful but no longer a carefree girl...

But I digress. I mention this only because Ihaving already identified my primary Goddess and brushed of the others, this completely took me by surprise:
I came across a Hymn to Aphrodite, and is my habit with hymns and spells, I whispered it outloud to myself to get a feel for the words.

I got one line in and my heart started fluttering, my hands shook, I felt like an electric current was going through me and it was dificult to breath

What the hell happened?!?
And what does this MEAN?
...any similar experiences?

You felt a connection to her, or maybe simply her pantheon. Have you seen anything on Persephone or Hekate, they are darker goddesses.

I have a few hymns to Hekate and Persephone as well, I've never experienced this. Even though I'd identified Persephone as my patron Goddess, my connection to her is more reasoned out, and less or a visceral emotional reaction.

I never considered a connection to Aphrodite, but can this experience mean she's "chosen" me??
rather confusing, especially considering how unlucky I am in love

Maybe she's trying to contact you. You should do a meditation to talk to her. She might have something important to tell you if you felt like that.

yes im sorry if that was unclear. how does one go about contacting a Goddess?

Well, for someone like me, I'm already connected to my Goddesses so I just simply have to meditate on their essence and they appear to me. But, since you haven't contacted Aphrodite before you'll have to make it a little more complicated. I would suggest making it a ritual. Use things that represent love and that are very important to Aphrodite, you could have roses on your altar. I would also suggest pink or red candles, or maybe even both. You might decide to burn incense, that's your choice. Anyways, you'll have to create a summoning spell to call Aphrodite to you. You'll know once she has arrived, when she does that's when you begin your meditation. Image yourself at the shore of a river, place one hand into the water and expell all the negative energy inside of you. While doing that place the other hand in the river and bring all the positive energy inside of you. Preferrable the river runs so that you collect the positive energy then expell the negative energy, being that you don't want to pick up what you just threw out. Anyways, then you pick a spot, anywhere in the world, generally one that you know and one that you're comfortable with. Then, just start thinking, "Aphrodite." This is how I summoned my Goddesses to me while I was in my meditative zone, before my presence brought them to me. If this doesn't work, actually call out to her. She may be there, but she may not want to be seen.

I've never had any sort of reaction to reading about a Goddess or God...To be honest I never got what people meant when they talk about contacting a diety.
I'm just wondering what this might be, or what it means...

I suggest trying the meditation and then telling us what happens, I think that will be the biggest help in figuring this out.

I said a prayer to Aphrodite to contact me during my dreams last night...
All I got was a dream about my 3 most recent "love interests" but there's nothing concrete enough to decipher as a message

Well I have a summoning spell I use to contact my goddesses, you might have to rearrange it..a lot..since it pertains so closely to my goddesses.
