Sorry Its just doesn't work for me!
Hi, ever since Symandinome told me that my Goddess should be a specific one and not just the Goddess, I've been trying to open myself and see which Goddess is, at first I tried Aradia, but it didn't seem right, the gut feeling was telling "Its not her" then I thought about Selene, I tried, she seemed right for a few days, but something kicking me inside, she is not her either, and then I realized that my Goddess will reveal herself to me when I'm ready, so I will keep reffering to her as "The Goddess" because that way I feel comfortable, and nothing is kicking me, my gut does not warn as it does when I try to name my Goddess, Even if it seems naive to you guys, Its just the way it is, its "The Goddess" for me, and I hope she will trust me enough to reveal herself and her name to me, of course at Full Moon and birthday I will celebrate but I will still reffer to her as "Goddess", do you find it wrong or stupid? I don't but I want to hear your opinions please....

Not at all. Don't do anything that makes you uncomfortable. Keep reading you'll find her, or vise versa.

I do not think it matters.

I don't think it's wrong at all. I don't have any specific deities, and I don't have any plans to spend a lot of time finding any. To me, all gods and goddesses are one, all together in THE God and Goddess. I have a very clear picture in my mind of what those two look like, and I've never really had any problems simply using those references for them. As long as you feel connected to them in your way, I think it doesn't matter what name you call them by.
I've doubted this way of life myself, but in the end, I really can't imagine any other way.
Names have too many connotations for me, and I think I prefer them being the comfortable, well-loved God and Goddess that I am used to.

Re: Sorry Its just doesn't work for me!
I think you totally missed what i was saying to you Greek. ALl goddesses from every pagan cuture are the goddesses of witchcraft. Which goddess we choose to name specifically for our rituals is a matter of personal preference. Some chose to call upon a different goddess each different sabbat and for the the full moon. While others choose to stick with one single goddess. The same applies for the God. It is not incorrect to just call upon "The Goddess" and "The God" if that is what you choose to do. Many people chose not to call upon a deity by any specific name. What I was telling you that you seemed to misunderstand was that all goddesses and gods are wiccan/pagan gods and goddesses. How you chose to address them is something that is personal to each witch.
Many people of specific traditions call upon the goddess by the names that correspond with the culture that their tradition is derived from. I am of a Celtic Tradition and more specifically of an Irish Celtic Tradition and therefore the names I choose to recognize deity by are the names of the Gods of the Tuatha De Danaan. Much similarity between ancient deities form all cultures can be found if you simply look. For example. In my tradition the Mother of All the Gods and the world is Dana or Danu and for the Greeks it was Gaia. The essence of what that deity represents stays the same only the names change because the people come from different places.
There are a vast amount of people that go their entire life and NEVER call upon Deity by one of the ancient names. The Goddess in all her varied aspects is and always will be "The Goddess" so that is why it is ok to just say "the goddess" during your rituals. I think that the only way that you are going to know for sure as to which is right for you is to experiment and try calling upon the different names of the Goddess and you may find one that works for you or MAYBE you will just reconfirm what you are already suspecting; that just saying "The Goddess" is enough for you.
When I was explaining this to you, I was trying to make you aware that the majority of people do call upon The Goddess by many different names and that none of them are wrong and that there are many different aspects or faces of the Goddess which our pagan ancestors acknowledged and honored by calling these aspects by different names. This is called Animism.
I hope this makes more sense to you now.

It does make more sense, and please do not think that I blame you for something, I just didn't got the point right away...for me Symandinome it works just by saying "The Goddess", even the favours or spells I have asked from her while I called her just "Goddess" she replied, she made them work for me, maybe I'm not ready to know her name, maybe like you said I don't need her name, who knows? thanks though, you've been only a help to me!

well thank god you understood me this time LOL I was really beating myself up over it because i try sooo very hard to be as clear as I possibly can when I explain things to people even to the point when I ask myself am I saying to much and making things worse. I am glad you understand now. I am happy that you are comfortable with your decision. I wish you all the best. I will still try to help you as much as I can.
