One Herb That Fits All?

So, I'm still in the broom closet and I cant really have a lot of herbs that are strange laying around my house. Basically anything that isn't used much for cooking would look a little suspicious to my parents. But I LOVE working with herbs in my spells and meditation and stuff... from what I've gotten to do. So my question is this:

Are there any herbs that you can find laying around a common house that can be used for pretty much anything? Or at least a few to cover the basic uses of herbs?

Rosemary, lavender (who doesn't like a nice, relaxing scent ;), sage, garlic, basil. :)
