I had this dream several days ago and could not interpret it so I went to a friend of mine that can interpret dreams. But they could only interpret part of it, not all of it. The part about the "worm" and what it stood for. I learned along time ago that my dreams have meaning but I'm stumped. It got added to my dream journal anyway..
My dream....
9-17-2012
The dream started out with me and four of my friends out enjoying a hike in the woods. After a bit of hiking we decided to play Airsoft games. Suddenly there we were in combat fatigues and AR15 Airsoft rifles engaged in a fight against another team.
We spotted the enemy strong hold and decided to attack it from a better position. So we went around the hill and began to climb it so that we would have the high ground. As we topped the hill we were no longer in the woods but in a desert and we were no longer alone. Our Airsoft guns were now real and we were engaging a large metal “thing” that was slowly making its way towards us. There were thousands of people on either side of us engaging this thing hitting it with every matter of small arms fire that they had. It just kept coming. We were acting as a well-oiled unit and calling out to each other, communicating our moves and combining our efforts to ensure our safety and success.
We decided to move around to a better position to continue our attack and saw a place where we could prone out. We made our way to the spot and went prone to increase our accuracy. As we were engaging from our new position, I saw something moving toward us in the sand. Looked like an eel moving in mud. As it got closer I realized it was a metal worm. I picked it up, looked it over and tossed it away. It came back and kept coming back regardless of how many times I tossed it away. At this point in my dream I heard the word “Nematode”. I have never heard this term before and was taken aback by it.
The one metal worm was joined by many and they were striking us, on our boots, our clothing, anywhere they could find. It didn’t hurt but they were looking for a soft spot. They finally hit one of buddies in his uncovered forearm. When it did, it burrowed into his arm. He became sick so we took him to the hospital. There the doctor said that he had become infested with heart worms and there was nothing they could do.
Couple of things to consider
1. I do hike and enjoy it. I usually hike with just my son, cause it is our time.
2. I did look up the word 'Nematode" and found out what it meant. Essentially a worm or form of it.
3. I never saw the faces of the people I was with, but in the dream we trusted each other completely.
Ok, tell me something. cause like I said, I am stumped. I know what I think it means but the worm threw me, now I am not so sure.
Troubling dream, please interpret
Re: Troubling dream, please interpret
The 'large metal thing' probably signifies a challenge or an obstacle in your life.
The people you fight along side could be real people, but I think they are likely yourself, or rather your alternate selves the various people you could have been if your life had been different until now. In dream we don't see our own face because our subconscious mind cannot work with there being more than one of us, so faceless people in our dreams are usually our selves.
The Nematode is actually a fairly common dream sign, it signifies destruction from within, or a parasitic relationship. Not to be confused with a worm which has a too many different meanings to list.
The air-soft guns becoming real guns is either a sign that what was once in fun is now for keeps, or it could be a deeper part of your mind hijacking your dream halfway.
One thing to consider is that not everything in your dream has significance, the messages are either subtle or they aren't. In this case the Nematode is the most important symbol, the second most important is the 'Enemy', and the third is desert
A quick summary might be along this:
A parasitic relationship that seemed harmless at first will become a devastating war with an enemy that you cannot defeat yourself.
Or:
A self-destructive behavior that seemed to be harmless will prove a powerful enemy that you cannot defeat yourself.
To be honest I've dealt with similar dreams in people with depression, drug or alcohol problems, and people with one-sided relationships that are about to turn violent or heated legally.
The Nematode symbolizes things we either didn't know were wrong with us or things we thought wouldn't hurt us.
The Enemy is just that, and coupled with the 'Faceless Army' Means something you beat alone.
The Desert symbol is the easiest to understand, it mean just what it is, a barren wasteland.
Hope this helps!

Thank you for the insight. It answers a few questions.
