Hi Cristry!
In simplest terms it is the "ritual" bath.
It is a bath you take prior to entering into a sacred ceremony, to purify ones body and spirit and make clean and sparkling with luster so as to please the Gods.
To make one shine with a ceremony of lustration isn't always done with water, basically it is a purification rite, and one can be purified with smoke, fire, salt or earth.
I believe we use this term nowadays to wash the dedicant before they are initiated. Or before you enter into any sacred ceremony. And/Or the asperging of the congregation as they enter in to the ritual space.
The "lustral baths" are tubs in the ancient ruins of Crete from the Minoan period, the ceremony was preformed in 5 year intervals ...why that is I don't know.
did that help?
Blessings dear, Firebird
