I could be a variety of things, honestly. Their meaning varies from culture to culture, as does their symbolism and mythological significance. One overarching theme or motif is their ability to see beyond the surface, beyond the veil that exists between worlds, and thus give insight or spiritual wisdom. It's possible they are a sign from Athena. Perhaps its a sign from your spirit guide or animal? My own is the owl, in fact, and relates, for me, to my abilities as a clairvoyant. It could be that they are messengers sent from the Otherworld to you, to guide or prompt you. Perhaps you have an ability that is awakening or that you need to develop.

I'll post some links here so you can do some research, but I would suggest that you also meditate and simply ask what they mean as well. Another forum member, in great wisdom, pointed out to me once that often the simplest method is the path to the most direct answer. :)

These are some good places to start gathering information on the owl and its plethora of roles. I hope this helps a bit. :)

I agree with heartsong!! I start seeing owls at the first times when i was sensing the earthquakes. Since then I've been really into owls. They r the loveliest creatures. In Turkey its a messenger of death. When an owl come to the roof they believe that someone will die in the house so they dislike them and if they're throwing onions on them. They believe that its gonna make the owl never come back. I haven't seen an owl in a while thats weird coz last night i saw a white owl in my dream i was showing it to one of my friends. Her dad is in a coma she gave her dad her liver but he's still in a bad shape. I cant figure out what it was yet. :s

So yes... I believe u should read about the owls in every culture to have an idea and eventually u will understand what it is about.

The owl is commonly associated with Athena, but there are other deities that this magnificent bird is associated with as well. You might want to research deities such as Annis, Ana, Artemis, Asclepias, Blodeuwedd, Gwy, Hecate, Lilith, Medusa, Minerva, Nyctimene, Persephone, and Calypso.
Seeing a lot of owls could very well be a sign from the Divine. Maybe you could include a small owl toy, picture, figurine, etc., with you while you meditate and ask the Divine how owls are significant to you.
Athena has been my matron deity for almost a year and a half, but I didn't really notice a lot of owls until earlier this year. Now it seems like I see at least one every time I'm at the store. :)
I'd also like to add that http://pantheon.org/ is a pretty good source of deity information. It's my first stop when I research gods, followed occasionally by http://www.wikipedia.org/.

I agree it could be Athena but it could also just be that this is a calling for the owl to be your spirit guide. Speak to them, feed them and you should get some answers. Also, look for signs to see if they are trying to direct you somewhere. Pay attention to the detail, the answers will come. Good luck!
