Pre-marital counseling is never a bad idea.

Well, I hear that Loki can be quite the wily one.

With some guys, a girl's just gotta' set firm boundaries.

I'm just sayin.'

Haven't you had problems with this guy?
This is a handfast and not legally binding?
Well, best wishes....

Well, she sees the red flags, as she's expressed to us. Perhaps a not-legally-binding handfasting is a good thing, in this case.

You guys do know I'm talking about the Norse God Loki, right? I'm becoming a god spouse, and I'm too young to get married so I'm going to be performing my own hand fasting.

Electra, I hate to rain on your parade, but I think the majority of the pushback on this thread is because 1) Loki is a notoriously fickle fellow who's known to wreak havoc in relationships, and 2) because less than 2 months ago you were posting about how he left you. Look, if you want to get handfasted, it's clearly your choice. But as outsiders to your relationship and all we see is a very young woman in an on-and-off again relationship with a clearly unstable guy and suddenly she's announcing impending nuptials, I think most of us can't help but at least react to the red flags we see and suggest setting boundaries. It would be solid advice for any regular human relationship, and it applies just as well to a human-god relationship.

Thank you Xiao, for your concern, and I know he's left me several times, but he left me to teach me that I don't need anyone to be happy. Once I learned that, he'd come back until I began depending on him again. And just because I marry him doesn't mean I can't be with anyone else. He'll always be with me. I can't imagine my life without him. He's a great big bag of ducks but I love him.

Thank you so much again for your concern. Blessed be.

I tried hurting myself today. I feel like this marriage will really make me feel better and hopefully make me start fresh in my life. I think that I'm absolutely insane now.

I agree. Commitment is a huge decision, no matter to what or to whom, and requires a great deal of thought (which I'm sure you gave, considering you're willing to bind yourself to a deity, a choice not to be made lightly!). It isn't something you can just break off without consequences, especially not with a god, and being a godspouse takes up a huge chunk of your life, sometimes more than you can actually always give. Loki looks out for his own, but he can be very demanding of your time, affection, and patience. Over time, it can really wear on your body and mind if you aren't prepared to make those sacrifices. Plus, gods don't always share easily (something to keep in mind if you decide to enter another relationship). I'm glad that you understand his motivations, though, and I wish you the best of luck and light.

Am I being crazy, because now I feel like I'm being crazy but Loki's telling me that this will be good for me or am I just crazy?
