I think I found mine?

Postby shyanne » Fri Aug 01, 2014 11:55 am

Hello Everyone! I'm still new to this. I tried meditating once but I'm new to that as well.. So whilst meditating I should try to keep my mind blank right? I've done some research and have found a Goddess/God that seems to make sense to me. But I don't know if like they are mine or if I should try to get them to come to me? Mine are (I think..) Venus and Aphroditus.

First off I want to say welcome to the site/forums. Secondly, to answer your question(s), when meditating, yes you should keep your mind blank and have no distractions around you. Keep focus on your intent while in meditative state. As far as calling out or them coming to you with Deities this can happen either way. Each time you meditate call out to them ask them questions and apply the answers. You will know in your heart if they both are or even just one is the ones you should or need to follow. Keep in mind deities can come and go in throughout your life. Here is some info on both Venus and Aphroditus to help you out in case you have not researched them yet or need some information on them.

In Roman mythology, Venus was the goddess of love, sex, beauty, and fertility. She was the Roman counterpart to the Greek Aphrodite. However, Roman Venus had many abilities beyond the Greek Aphrodite; she was a goddess of victory, fertility, and even prostitution.

Aphroditus was portrayed as having a female shape and clothing like Aphrodite's but also a phallus, and hence, a male name. This deity would have arrived in Athens from Cyprus in the 4th century BC. In the 5th century BC, however, there existed hermae of Aphroditus, or phallic statues with a female head. This combination of the male and female in one divinity and being associated with the moon, both of which were considered to have fertilizing powers, was regarded as having an influence over the entire animal and vegetable creation.

Yes i instantly felt a motherly connection to Venus. And as a mtf trans person Aphroditus was relatable to me.

I studied meditation for a long time and, while many people meditate differently and in a way that works for them, every teacher I've had in this field has told me that when you have a distracting thought, don't try to make the thought go away. You must let it pass on it's own. It's hard at first but it works. If you let the thoughts pass, with practice, eventually they pass more quickly and you can fall into the meditation state that you're trying to get to.

I hope this helps and good luck!
