Should I take this dream as a sign?

Postby ohstarrynight » Thu Oct 09, 2014 8:04 pm

Hi, all--

I am quite new around here, and I am VERY much in the process of determining whether or not I feel the path of Wicca is right for me. I am definitely leaning heavily in that direction. That being said, I had a peculiar and haunting dream last night, and was wondering if anyone out there thinks it could have some significant meaning? ...or am I just looking for answers where there are none?

I'll try to keep it as brief as possible. In the dream, I was exploring an abandoned building I saw recently on a quiet beach in Florida. I had wanted to explore it then, but couldn't; apparently my astral self didn't want to let it go. In the dream, I couldn't find a way in, so I went around to the back, where I found an elderly woman in a wheelchair surrounded by these bizarre creatures. They had a head like a sloth, but the body and tail of a monkey. They walked on two legs and danced around her. She specifically told me that she had 114 of them that lived on her property.

The woman and several of the creatures were in a garage, and she invited me in to pet one of them. I tried, but the whole time I felt very scared of them. Suddenly, the garage door shut, and we were trapped inside. I panicked but she was very calm until a man who said he was her son came and let us out of the garage. He took me into the abandoned building and let me look around.

While I was exploring, suddenly I heard a terrifying scraping noise, very loud and unnatural, coming from the next room. I called for the man and woman and no one answered. I knew the scraping noise was not something good, so I ran out the back door as fast as I could go. The noise followed me until I left the property. As I tried to tell people about what happened, no one would look me in the eye, and they all claimed I was lying.

Then the dream skipped ahead some years, and I was looking for a house to buy. Although I was no longer in Florida, I somehow ended up inside that very house. It had been decorated and painted, but even though the appearance had changed I knew that's where I was. Suddenly, I heard the scraping noise again, and I started sobbing. That was all I remember before waking.

Any help you can offer would be appreciated. Even if that help is "there's nothing there."

Finding meaning in other people's dreams can be a bit tricky, because symbolism and such can be pretty individual - something might have a particular meaning to you, no meaning to me, and a different meaning to a third person, if that makes sense. If I had this same dream I probably wouldn't really think anything of it, there's nothing that really sticks out to me - but is there something in particular that sticks out to you?

It's a fine line sometimes, because sometimes when a dream really sticks with us it can mean there's something there, but there are also times where a particularly strange dream will linger without really having a particularly deep meaning. If you find themes from the dream repeating more often, then it might be worth a deeper look.

I believe that when we dream that we are accessing other dimensions of reality of our cosmic selves. Since we are multi-dimensional beings all possibilities are possible. In some dreams our higher-selves often give us messages - this can be of great value when you apply them to your own life. Only you can determine what it means, perhaps some part of you is afraid of the path that you are on, so you created a situation that was fearful? We are amazing creators both in this world, and in others ;)
