Questions About Godspousery

Postby Queen of the Dead » Thu Nov 20, 2014 12:04 am

Hi! This is my first post on the forum, just because I REALLY want to know the answer to these questions. I'm not really into the idea of godspousery myself, but I won't judge anyone who is. c:

1. If there are any Artemis/Diana followers out there, does She only marry women? Or is She asexual/aromantic? If you don't know exactly, what do you think, and what has She told you that made you think this?

2. (This one is less serious) How pissed do you think Haides would be if someone tried to marry Persephone? What do you think he would do to someone who did?

Thanks in advance!
Happiness is hiding so you can appreciate it more when you find it. Keep looking.

Not a godspouse myself, just a devotee, but in all my networking with other followers I've never seen anyone who claims to be a godspouse of her. It's an interesting question, though. On one hand, it would seem pretty out of character for a goddess who swore to remain an unmarried virgin. On the other hand, there are a rare few versions of some myths where she did fall in love, and the reasons why she was considered one of the virgin goddesses was because of how the ancient Greeks saw virginity - it is sometimes hard to know if ancient concepts are still always applicable in modern times. (Such concepts very likely did not apply to women, either, so two women who were together would always still be virgins in that sense, so... who knows.) I wouldn't say it's impossible, but it doesn't seem to be at all common?

Well, speaking from myth? It was Haides who took a nymph, Minthe, as a lover, and Persephone who got angry and turned her into a mint plant/dust. (Like many Greeks myths, there are of course other versions of this, like some where Minthe was also saying how better than Persephone she was, which never ends well in Greek myth...) Haides was not, in myth, a particularly wrathful deity. He did punish someone who tried to abduct Persephone, but that's different than Persephone approaching someone of her own will. That said, Haides is one of the few Greek gods that I have met a godspouse of (two, in fact), so again, I don't think either deity taking on a human spouse is impossible.

For Lady Artemis, I honestly am not sure. The facet of Her that I've interacted with seemed asexual and aromantic to me. She had no interest in the sexual company of anyone of any sex or gender. However, she does love and care for all equally but in a platonic way, not romantic. However, this is the facet of Her I have seen. She may appear differently to you. Trust me, my love of the Lady runs deep and pure in me, sometimes borderline fanatic I'm embarrassed to say... >///<

As for Persephone, I am unsure. She has given motherly care but I have not seen her look to or pursue anyone of any gender or sex. She may only wish to be bound to her husband. However, I do not work with Her but with Haides Himself. I uh... I think he'd be kind of pissed... ^^;
