Hi everyone. We're all aware that symbols can be used in rituals and are very prevalent in witchcraft- planetary symbols, symbols for deities, magical tools, sabbats, etc. etc. However, if we're developing a symbol-based ritual, can we develop a symbol that represents "self"? Sort of like a representation of you as a person.
I was considering this and would like to see if anyone has already done this or if it's a common thing I'm not aware of.

Yes you can create your own Sigil that represents you. I have one that I have made and I even had it made into a necklace which I wear every day. I use it in all my rituals and workings.

Just like Adastra said, you can totally make one! Something else that you can do too, is create something called a Bind Rune if you were interested in runic work. There are different ways you can create a symbol to represent yourself, and it is totally something you can do. (:

How about making a sigil based on the letters in your name? Then maybe take it one step further by creating the sigil in either your favorite color or a color associated with you astrological sign.
What are some of your favorite things? You could play your favorite song during any rituals you perform for yourself, or wear your favorite color or scent. Try using these things exclusively for personal magick and let the Divine know with a simple statement such as: "Whenever I wear purple socks in circle, I work magick for myself."
I've recently started using a mushroom shaped candle in ritual to represent myself.

Re: Developing your own symbol
You can do a sigil as described above.
I was recently reading about Reiki and some of the symbols. Later that night in a dream I was given a new symbol to use for protection from one of my guides. Ive researched online forever and have not come across it yet.
So before mediation or going to sleep you can ask one of your guides/deities to give you a symbol and see what comes up. Keep a journal or piece of paper and pen by your bed so when you wake you you can draw it right away before you forget.

The difference btw Christianity and Pagan religions is that Pagan religions can adept to new age. Paganism is constantly adapting, developing by each person. Wisdom is passed from one person to another, for so many years. That's the beauty in it. You can develop your own signs or spells or whatever you want. And pass it on next generations.
