Spiders and Snakes

Some of our members might remember Jim Stafford's Spiders and Snakes song. I happen to like spiders and snakes, but I had an odd dream about the former, and a close encounter with the latter in the space of 24 hours.

The night before last, I dreamed about jumping spiders. My grandson and I were in a house. We were talking, when we started being surrounded by jumping spiders. The spiders were various shades of metallic teal and gray, and they started wrapping us up in sticky webbing. We were starting to fight our way free, when a second group of spiders showed up. These were a different type of jumping spider, with tan and brown variegated exoskeletons. These spiders were able to unhinged their jaws like snakes, the better to bite us with. I woke up looking for the bites and swelling on my arm.

Okay, well A) Thanks for the nightmares. And B) There are many possibilities to the meaning of these occurrences. You may have pissed off Arachne. Or for the snakes, i know that in egyptian mythology, multiheaded snakes were a symbol of Re's sun barge. Snakes are also however, often associated as enemies of cats. And Apophis of course. Loki's name, originates from the Swedish word "Locke" meaning spider. So yeah, there's my jumble two cents. Ill do some scrying on it if you'd like, ive been meaning to swim back into hydromancy (pun intended).

The snake was real. I thought it was a stick until it went zipping away from me. We startled each other pretty thoroughly. Poor little guy was just trying to sunbathe.

I know Death and rebirth are associated with spiders and snakes in dreams. Snakes tend to mean many things unfortunately from bad relations to having a process of healing. Spiders can mean attention to detail, weaving a section into your life, patience, creativity or even dark aspects of life. Sorry I'm not the greatest at dream interpretations but that's what I know about spiders and snakes in dreams.

I've learned a lot from spiders, they have come up numerous times during my vision quest. They very much understand the interconnectedness of not only things in nature, but also of different planes of existence. Their webs are symbols for the matrix underlying reality. each connecting node on a web is a plane of existence, and the webbing between them are the strings that not only attach these planes together, but also the strings used to manipulate the overall structure of the web.

Spiders are more than capable of moving through the multi-dimensional web.

Being bit by poisonous animals (snakes, spiders, centipedes, frogs, etc) in general points towards transformation.

Last night featured spiders again. I was retained on a gurney, and whoever was holding me prisoner released a large number of spiders with the intention of them attacking me. Instead, the spiders recognized me as their friend, and told me they would free me.
