Vendredi
Hi, my name is Vendredi!
Happy to be here. I've lurked here for over a year now, always meaning to register and just never getting around to it. (Life sure moves fast the older you get.)
Anyway, I'm into gardening, chicken-ing, and all manner of crafting. I also love to cook. Currently trying to teach myself the piano, but ehh life gets in the way.
I'm a radical feminist, and slowly relearning to trust my instincts.
Hope to learn, grow, and share a lot around these parts.

"Time marches on, and eventually you realize it's marchin across your face." One of my favorite lines from Steel Magnolias. I think it's marched across the rest of me too.

Chicken-Ing? Me too! I keep a small flock of rare brew chickens. I love having fresh eggs. And I love time spent amongst them.

LOL, Snow. I know that is not the strangest thing my "smart" phone has ever decided that I must mean. Artificial intelligence is not quite there yet.

Lol, this was great to come back to!
That's so cool, Myrth! My girls are black jersey giants. What do you have?
I wanted the hens for the eggs, but I quickly came to appreciate their company, too. They never fail to amuse me! Are your chickens as opinionated as mine?
Once it gets nicer out I need to post some photos of them. I fully embrace my crazy-chicken-ladyness.

I have had several breeds of chickens over the years. I have Icelandic chickens now. They are a rare breed. They set and raise their own young. And they lay a medium sized egg. They are quite colorful too. I really enjoy them. I feel sort of like we have a flock of mini velociraptors!
Yes, I too am a crazy chicken lady. LOL!

Ain't that the truth!... I feel sort of like we have a flock of mini velociraptors!
That looks like a wonderful breed! We just purchased a few more chicks (ISA brown...great egg production) that I'm raising on the back porch for now. Someday I'd love to let a broody hen raise 'em for me. We originally started out with 12 pullets. Two turned out to be roosters. We gave one to some friends who keep chickens. Eventually, the well-behaved roo that we kept had to get relocated as well because he got very aggressive with my youngest kid. I really miss watching (and listening to) that ornery boy.
Re: Vendredi
Oh dear. Yes roosters can be aggressive with children. The most child friendly, laid back breed of chickens I have ever had is buff Orpingtons. Mellow, mellow roosters. Good luck with your new chicks! Don't you love those peeps?
