Gender Identity Options?

Postby Starwitch » Tue Feb 28, 2017 12:40 pm

I was watching this SNL joke and it occurred to me that we may not have adequate gender options here on the forum, and that the "Other" option I added years ago is probably more offensive than anything. I'm not going to add 37 options like Tinder has done, but what about just adding "non binary" and "Trans"? Or are those the same thing? If no one is interested in fooling with it, that's fine too. We used to have one transgender woman on the forum, but she's been gone for years. I don't know whether we have any here currently. Our current choices are Male, Female, and Other.

Sorry I don't see you guys more. I'm really more into Yorkies (dogs) these days than witchcraft. It's also hard to do spiritual stuff when you have dogs that bark a lot. Hope everyone here is doing well. Thanks for joining EUTM. :flyingwitch:

Xiao, if I forget that I posted this, maybe you could message me if you guys end up deciding on new gender options.

I don't think that "other" is offensive. Adding trans can be problematic because not everyone who is "other" considers themselves "trans". Maybe if there was a blank space allowing to write whatever you want?

I like Moon's idea to write the gender yourself, just like your location. This way people can say what they consider themselves, without being labeled or offended.

Sorry guys, I'm no programmer. I can only change the options provided in the drop-down list.

Well, don't worry about it then, we can adapt to what is given and possible. :-)
Those who are not ok with the option can maybe choose if they want it displayed or not. They can write it in their signature or also in the sexual orientation thread. We're smart people; we can figure a way to solve it our way. ;-)

Add gender fluid and Trans and I think that would cover the majority so long as other was left in

Thank you for adding this.

Silly question, how do I set it to be display to my profile, like under the picture when I post?
I've seem some people have their gender showing, some don't.

I'd like mine gender to show if I want to, even of it's pretty obvious.
How can I do that? It's already set to Female, but that doesn't do the trick.

Thank you! :) <3

Under the "user control panel" choose the profile tab, at the bottom of that page are the gender options.
If you still are having issues I wonder if tapatalk gets in the way?

Firebird, I don't think Tapatalk is getting in the way. I used the browser and still nothing.
I would try to do this from the app too, but have no idea how.:-)

Yes, I went there and selected Female. But it still doesn't show up when I post.

I don't think that app is to blame, I don't even have it. I log on the forum from my PC.

But it's okay, people can see me on my Avatar Picture, it clearly looks female. :D

Blessed be!

Something is askew.
I just tried every option.
Male, Trans, Gender Fluid, and Other all show up.
BUT, Female does not...
Starwitch? Can this be fixed?

We have a discriminatory gender identification program ?

That's a new one...;)
