If you can afford it and want to explore your memories, actually going to Scotland would be an option. If not, have you considered looking up old records and pictures in Scotland?

Pretty sure you're right. It's unpredictable, as to what will be a trigger. That sounds like a fairly benign flashback. I think Lady Lilith's suggestion is a good one. Maybe research dietary preferences and habits pertaining to the area and time period that you feel connected to.

If this is the first time you've run face to face into the multiple lifetimes concept, it can be upsetting to our rational old forms of thinking.
