Thoughts on invoking
Is it weird that I prefer to specifically avoid invoking gods or spirits or drawing power from gods or spirits? I prefer to just use my own power or just draw energy from the area around me.
The ability to question our way of thinking is what shows our intelligence.
Re: Thoughts on invoking
No not weird. I think there are lots of people who work with the genius loci. Me being one, though I work with various Gods and Goddesses too.
There is a caveat to using your own power however, which Is quite draining, and then it must be replaced. It's best to draw the energy to you and channel it. Or draw it through you and channel it.

Definitely not weird.
Remember, no two people practice in exactly the same way. It's natural to change a few thing to suit you better.

Re: Thoughts on invoking
I think I used to avoid that a bit for these reasons: precaution, laziness; fear that they would not be "summoned enough" and the spell would be half-neglected, not elaborated enough. Is it weird that I prefer to specifically avoid invoking gods
Now I draw from Luna's light (Full Moon now by the way) and consider her a Goddess... not much of a big head really.

Re: Thoughts on invoking
I think of invoking deity as drawing from the divine field of which They are an emanation. When we draw energy from the earth or moon we are connected to the divine in an energy form as well. When we center within our higher self we are connecting to the divine within ourselves and are also drawing from the divine field. So to me working with the divine field rather than a personality has made sense. It’s like all one to my brain.

I have a few questions if you don't mind
1. What do you mean by "They are an emanation"?
2. I've heard "Divine field" mentioned before both on forums and in some of my books though I haven't finished half my books (I'm a pretty slow reader) could you tell me more about it please if it's not too much trouble?

Ok
noun, emanation; plural noun: emanations
. an abstract but perceptible thing that issues or originates from a source.
"she saw the insults as emanations of his own tortured personality"
. the action or process of issuing from a source.
"the risk of radon gas emanation"
. a tenuous substance or form of radiation given off by something.
"vaporous emanations surround the mill's foundations"
Divine field is a term that refers to the quantum field of divine mind, divine consciousness.

Yes. Sometimes I wonder about how energy field itself - if of good energy - turns in your head into vision of a deity or something agreeable.I think of invoking deity as drawing from the divine field of which They are an emanation. ST you think I think the same thing like you?
