Anyone that knows me personally knows I am a huge guitar nut. So it comes as no surprise that some of my favorite musicians are guitarists. My three favorite guitarists are George Harrison, Steve Vai, and Jimmy Page. Now here is what I noticed:
First of they are all outstanding musicians, and that is a big part of the reason I like them. But there are also other outstanding guitarist I like, but not as much as them, and I was thinking of why that was. The answer was there is something that just draws me towards these three, something that interests me and perplexes me.
I figured out what they have in common. They all are greatly interested in many different faiths or philosophies. George Harrison dove head first into many of the eastern religions. Steve Vai was into numerology, and I'm not sure what else but I know there are others. Jimmy Page was/is interested in mysticism, the occult, and Aliester Crowley.
I found I was drawn towards these three even before I knew of their interests in religion or philosophies, and even before I would have cared. Does anyone have any possible explanations as to why this happened?
Something I noticed
ok we all tend to wear our beleifs on our sleeves, wether we mean to or not.
Point of fact a die hard christian most of the time will dress and or act in a way that you can tell as they are walking down the street what faith they follow. Pagens arent much different, and all three those artists wear their beleifs on their sleeves probally more than any other. So that wouldnt be uncomon, because subconcessly you reconise these things and it attracts you to them,

Yep, that was Vai in Crossroads.
Your explanation makes sense, but in this case it don't have much to do with style of dress. I was drawn to them even before I knew what clothes with were with what religion, and even before I would have even cared about what they beleived.
I've been thinking about it some more, and the closest thing I can come with is they were trying to figure things out, and some of that makes its way into their music. That and their music to me seems to be deeper somehow than others, though I can not sure why.

Just seems to me that you have the knowledge to recognize great guitarists, and concidentally they all happen to have been into different spiritual practices. I kinda doubt that there's some grand mystical connection out there that caused it.
I was wondering sort of if there was some sort of deeper connection. Usually pretty good coincedences don't happen to me.
I think it is just the "aura" they have around them, and that somehow draws me towards them. The aura I think has to do with them trying to figure out for themselves what else is out there. Though it was before I was interested in religion, I was always a curious kid, always wanting to figure things out.
I too very much doubted there was some sort of big mystical connection, but there was something more there than just me likeing their music. I was curious to what that was. I'm a guy where I have to figure something out or it will drive me nuts. But I have figured it out, I guess that I just needed to sort of "talk" it out.

Music has always been an important part of us, in ritual, ceremony and celebration. It keeps me sane, I could live happily without T.V. but I don't like to be without access to my music. I'd rather be blind than deaf[ though I don't want to be either!] so I could still enjoy the sounds. I feel a spiritual connection to it, I use drumbeats and chimes in some of my ritual working.
