What happens if....
A few questions. First of all, what happens if you come out of meditation too quickly? I've had a few ideas I found but I'd like to hear from you (the experts.... now don't you feel so special?).
Next, there are many things to do when your meditating. Focusing on energy, on your breathing or on music. What's your favorite style?

That's quite a good question Mal. I wouldn't call myself an expert at it.........yet
lol, but from what I've experienced if I don't count myself back up from the meditation I'm doing or I open my eyes too quickly or get up too quick then I can get quite dizzy, otherwise I can often feel really spaced out, or sometimes even sick if I've been doing a Chakra meditation and I've had lots of Energy wizzing around my body. That is why I now always count myself back up from my meditations and just lay there and relax for a minuet or two before getting up and moving about again, also make sure I've grounded well.

I think it's interesting that meditation and grounding questions have been coming up so much. I wonder why it is.
If I come out of meditation too quickly I tend to feel light headed, sometimes a little dizzy and shaken, like if you're having a nap and you get woken up at the wrong time and can't adjust right away. I have a couple grounding exercises I do to avoid that, which I also use as a quick way to 'even out' my energy - calm down a bit or get in a little more.
I'm still experimenting with what I like to 'do' when I meditate. I listen to nature music on my mp3 player to smooth out background noise. After that it depends on what I'm trying to do. If I'm doing energy work that's what I focus on. If I'm just relaxing I focus on my breathing to start then shift to spatial awareness. Anything else I use candles or my 'secret grove'.

Hmm. Coming out of meditation too quickly probably means that you are not concentrating. You must concentrate, focus.. I like to light a circle of five representing points on the pentacle and evoke the elemental correspondences of each beginning with spirit and working your way around in clockwise fashion lighting candles deosil, as they say. Sit inside the circle, breath in through nose out through mouth, relax... put on some music yes good idea. Dead can Dance is mesmerizing, Into the Labyrinth.. Yulunga, Spirit Song.. I used to put on Set The Controls by Floyd but I do not recommend this to amatuers. Visualize, something nice and special for you, like the 'sacred grove' that someone mentioned earlier, a place of sanctuary for your mind to create an inner temple of your own design, from there you concentrate power and begin to journey letting your subconscious spin the tapestry of your inner dreamworld. Kabbalah and pathworking are especially effective for these types of excercises and there are techniques for incorporating the images of tarot into your spirit journey. Fascinating stuff. Always ground the energy when you return this cannot be stressed enough. Extinguish candles and dismiss elements counter-clockwise, widdershins as they say. I sense you are very curious one indeed. I just bought a book with your name on it so I'll be keeping an eye on youA few questions. First of all, what happens if you come out of meditation too quickly? I don't have difficulties coming out of meditation so I can't really speak to that. I seem to be able to transition into and out of meditation quite quickly, which is actually a handy thing to do.
The advice about grounding sounds solid to me. Also, on a more mundane note, if you feel dizzy after meditation there might be a physical cause as well - low blood pressure, for instance.
I think the idea of having a specific place you go to mentally when you meditate is a very good one. In my case, it's a real place and I often do go there physically to meditate as well. For me, the best sounds for meditation are water sounds, and falling water is better than anything else; the place I go to has a small waterfall, so it's a great place to meditate.
I find that any sound that is rhythmic or continuous is fine for meditation, though, as long as it's NOT music. (I can't listen to music without thinking about it.) One of my cats loves to be with me when I meditate and he never distracts me; he just settles down somewhere near and purrs. He has a very loud and rhythmic purr and I find that to be a great sound to focus on during meditation, believe it or not.
I was recently given a Tibetan singing bowl and lately I've been experimenting with how that might aid meditation.

I can see where your getting at, but I meant, if you are done meditating, and you get out of it took quickly. I mean....... something along the lines of, you're meditating and your cat breaks a vase and your eyes fly open.Coming out of meditation too quickly probably means that you are not concentrating.
I figured it would result in dizziness, just wanting to be aware of the dangers of it. Thanks for your help, though!

Those kind of distractions can be very frustrating esp. if you have a crazy cat like I do who spazes out whenever it gets quite around the house. Best thing to do is wait until you have everybody out of the house, put the cat in another room, and create an environment, your sacred space, that is comfortable to you, candles stones incense, your alter, a wooded grove etc, and you should be able to do your excerices in peace and without distraction. The biggest mistake you can make however, is not in your technique but by not following through with the information that you recieve in your spirit journeys, through your visualizations. Your subconscious, the spirits or your higher self will attempt to communicate things to you that are very important and your meditations and spellwork should be a continuation of the previous excersises to some degree and recorded in your book of shadows. That way you have something to refer to when things start happening. Protections, bansishings and energy grounding are very important here and IMHO this cannot be stressed enough. Everybody has their own technique for doing this just make sure that you do something with the excess energy that you accumulate in meditation and spellwork because this can attract unwanted influences into your circle. If you have any further questions ask away, I'm here to help

its interesting you say that cosmo because ive been observing my visualisations on more concious mind frame and ive been finding it very interesting, like i may start a visualisation someway, but a little way in it's as though ive relinquished control and something else is creating my visualisations, it's kinda like watching a movie.
Its more like virtual reality, its all interactive, you still have the control but the visions have a life of their own so to speak, like you said.. Some people believe that you can actually contact elementals or extradimensional entities or whatever, i don't really know.. Its an art just like anything else of this sort, practice makes perfect and I'm somewhat lacking in that department so I'll just leave it at that. Best of luck on your journeys!
