Christmas - a time of year that many people find stressful because of family[ being nice to those they don't like etc.],alcohol, cost of buying presents, being alone with no family, losing your job just before it, commercialism gone crazy - nice if your poor, trying to explain to a small kid who's been good that they can't have what the spoiled little terror down the street has, even tho' that kid is a bully/horror. This wasn't a pagan test, so I guess all the above and more apply. I think it should score much higher. I try to like it for the kids and grandkids sake, but I 'm relieved when the holiday is over, everyone else celebrates it.

LOL!!
You misunderstood me Eretik.
My confusion was because the test said events that you have experienced over the last year - well we've all experienced christmas.

its not so much the options that are important it is our reaction to it. so its like, if you cringe at the thought of christmas, or the first thing you think about is all the crap you have to do in hopes of being prepared on time ;)

Oh yeh, I get it now, sorry - duh,I needed that wee rant anyway, guess who hates Christmas?I hate the way adverts appear wall to wall on the kids channels, they can't avoid seeing it,hearing about it etc. It annoys me, you know I prefer the 'peace to all mankind' stuff, at least that's not commercial. I feel silly now, but that's not unusual for me. Here we look forward to hogmanay, a much more pleasant time, lol. I got 314,oh dear, even positive stuff can be stressful too.

PS. Hedgewitch,I namechecked you in 'healing' in regard to herbs would you check it out, please, you know a lot more than me,it's 'evil eye,not the curse.lol' Ta much.

I scored 114, but I agree with Draconis that there are a lot of things that aren't on the list. I wonder about some of the numbers assigned, too. Surely that must be different for different people. I mean, I'm pretty sure my child leaving home was more stressful than a change in work responsibilities for me, and I think moving to a new residence was more stressful than a change in working hours or conditions.

I scored highly, which is probably about right, but I think it's also miportant to remember that some people can deal with high levels of stress better than others.

Whilst the numbers assigned to each may come into question, surely it's also worth mentioning that someone who has a very high total may not feel stressed / may not be affected much... Compared to someone who has a much lower total, but 'feels' stress more than others.

Personally, I can take stress, and find that I thrive when I'm under it for the most part (up to a limit - everyone has their limits :)). However, I know people that can't even take a tiny bit of stress, and crack under the pressure.

Like Sobek said, it's a massively subjective kinda thing. Ultimately, only you know what stresses you out and how much you can take.. So just stick well within the constraints of that limit, and you'll be fine. Obviously, stress can make people feel ill.. So if you do start to feel ill, get down to the Doctors and find ways to reduce that stress!

I suffer from Cluster headaches when I reach my stress limit (so so horribly painful), and although the Doctors prescribe strong painkillers... I find that the best thing for me to do is just to stop completely, do nothing for a day or two and just completely relax. The headaches soon pass once I start to relax. Relaxation has to be, by far, one of the best ways to solve the majority of stress-related medical issues (aside from something like a stomach ulcer, which won't go away without help!).

I guess that goes without saying, though, and is just common sense haha. Rambling on, now... Back to relaxing for me! See ya around.
