Spell Question

Postby Forlorn » Tue Aug 28, 2007 11:47 am

What are your opinions on casting more than one spell? For example- if I did a job spell today, then a cleansing spell 2mrw then a spell to attract new love the day after....what are your opinions about this? Do you think doing many spells may divert energies / attention? I suppose it makes sense to focus 100% on one particular petition....or does it not really matter to cast more than one spell for different needs over a period of time? I have a few areas in my life I want to focus on - all very important but obviously I want the best possible results for each particular area.

thanks x

I’ve wondered about that lately myself. I do a candle burning for two separate people in the same night at the same time. But separate candles so know one gets confused. Then a cleansing bath & House Cleansing. Make my own candles during the morning and If the moon is right and the vibe hits me I’ll continue working on those people. Maybe the following day some personal candle burning for myself. Hopefully someone with more experience can answer us. Since I’m not a professional hoodoo practitioner I feel I can work at my own pace and not pressured by others which is great when you’ve seen the other side. In addition I have the chance to try new things. Messes with ingredient and keep what some people call a Book Of Shadows. I just call mine Book Of Secrets. The only problem there is with that for me is which method worked when you worked a couple things back to back LOL! So I have started taking better account of what was done. Wait 3 days, then 3 week to see result. But results seem fast for me.

I think it depends on your energy levels/nature of the spell/circumstance/experience. I don't do that many - but I 'll space out what I do, by personal preference. I can be very focused and work on several levels consistently, when I am in a high energy phase,or in urgency-but sometimes I'd rather unthink or go the park,so won't be that focused - and then I suspend most of my 'projects'. I think it best to keep them simple and spaced out by a few days. You could get tired.

spells

I usually do one thing at a time, because I try to make sure everything is at the best time (planets, moon, day of week, ect) in order to get the best results. I guess it is possible to do more than one thing, if there is the need and you can remain focused on what is it you are trying to accomplish. It takes me awhile to get the ritual/spell/prayer together and research it all out to make sure that I am not interfering with anything or creating a karma to myself. Also I pray to different Goddesses/Gods for different things, so usually I try to stick with one at a time, although I have one particular who is I feel more drawn to. I suppose that if the spells were done on different days, or at different times it is possible, though I have not done more than one thing at a time. Also afterwards I like to do a ritual of thanks to all that I have asked to help me, so it takes awhile to get it all together. I know that this is not very helpful, but maybe there are others out there with more experience who can advise.

A rule of thumb I always found helpful was to not do more than three spells a day, tops. You have to balance things carefully, because some spells take more "zap" than others.

An example I've used before is blessing an object vs. doing some shadow work. If the new object is say a pendulum, then you just take some energy from the earth, then morph it into your own, then charge the pendulum with it. Shadow work involves looking at the parts of yourself that you don't normally see and sit around meditating for a while. This is incredibly hard work, and you can be exhausted after you go off wandering into the astral like that. Seriously, most shamanistic techniques take loads of energy and mojo. On the other hand, you could just as easily go into that shadow place and find a new allay and come back more energized than before. Or you could wind up doing mortal combat with a mirror version of yourself. It depends on what accomplishing that work entails. So rate what you need to do before you do it, and keep a flexible attitude about those last things.

Because exhausting yourself magically sucks. You not only get tired, but you can get tired for days on end where sleep only helps a little. You can get headaches or a tendency towards migraines for a few days. You can get emotionally touchy to the point where interacting with people, even normally people you like, hurts almost physically. Over exerting yourself in this manner can really mess you up.
