Grand Patterns Made by Aspects... is this combo one of them?

Postby jcrowfoot » Wed Dec 19, 2007 12:22 am

Ok, I forget the term, but there are notable combinations of aspects that generally have added significance when found together. A Grand Trine is one of the classics, and there are others.

Well, I was looking at some of the charts I've made of myself and some of my friends and found a combination that came up quite a lot.

In this case, it's two sextiles that meet at a point (in one case on the Sun... in another, on Jupiter) with a trine bridging the two to make a small triangle.
Certainly not as big of a deal as a Grand Trine, but I thought it was interesting. So two questions: does this particular combination of aspects mean something greater? If so, what's it's name, and what does it mean?

If it's close to one of these grand patterns, let us know that, too, if you don't mind!

Thanks! I always love your posts, bsp!

(Ps... others are also welcome to post too... ;) )

Hi Jcrowfoot,

This pattern that you describe is called a Minor Grand Trine. Some argue that it is even better than a grand trine as teh sextiles offer more movement of energy and therefore a better flow between the planets / houses in this configuration. Generally, it is noted the minor grand trines offer the native a freer flow of communicative abilities and an adventurous sense that can assist in capitalizing on many opportunities that will naturally present themselves. Moreover, the minor grand trine will also bring luck, especially if the Sun and Jupiter are involved as in your example. But the keys to this pattern are: flow, communication, energy. So be sure to account for the particular celestial bodies involved in this as their energies will surely be enhanced in the chart.

Bright blessings,

bsp

First, I did get the real time that my friend was born... apparently, her mom was holding out because she thinks astrology is silly. It was at 11:02, we're pretty sure. Yes, that's AM, but much later than I was thinking. However, that's not the end of the world. Because for some reason, I was able to see where the head of that minor grand trine was... it focuses on Pluto, not on the Sun like I thought. (The Sun and Pluto are very close in this chart... not quite to being conjunct, but still very close. Six degrees of separation, to be exact. :D )

Anyhow, the minor grand trine involves: Pluto, Saturn, and the Moon.

Now, I'm sure any Great Astrologer of Yore would have prophesy'd gloom and doom from this config... but the vibe I get from thinking about it is that this is all about her spiritual connection to the dead.. even if Pluto is actually on the cusp of the 11th and 10th house. Now, the North Node *is* in the twelth house, which I feel is a sort of echo of this theory I put forth. Funny how it's starting to make some sense now that I have the right time!
