Wands Query

Postby LonelyAngel13 » Sat Feb 23, 2008 7:33 am

Hi, I haven't been on in a while but I need to check something. Please help.

Which wand is best to use? Is there one specific type of tree that is a good allrounder or do I need several different wands for different spells??
I've heard that Holly is supposed to be quite good for a wand as it also acts against evil spirits, but do i leave the prickly leaves on or off?? :?

Thanks for any help you can give me,
LonelyAngel13

For my wand, I went into my backyard and meditated on what I needed to do and needed to find. After that, I went around feeling a lot of the sticks and twigs, until I found the right one. When I did fine the right one, I went inside and stripped the bark off, to make it smooth(with permission of the stick of course!), and now my wand is one of my most favorite tools, because I put a lot of energy into it, making it truly my own.

I have two. One is a willow branch and the other is a twisty honeysuckle vine. A agree with moondaughter...there is more power in the wand that is crafted by the witch!

I only have a wand, made from blackberry wood and I really kept it for almost 2 years now, It was given to me by a friend.

Basically, all you need to do is to ask yourself what kind of wood will you use. And when you had your idea what to do, get a twig, and start making. Oh and when you want to put off any parts of the wood always ask permission as moondaughter said. There are lots of information about several types of wood on the net.

I found these for you and I hope it helps:

Magic Wands: How to make them
http://naturalmagickshop.com/articles/wands.html

Magical Properties of wood
http://goldentreewands.com/magicpropertiesofwood.htm

Sorry but I can't help you more right now. I'm doing my research work and I need to finish it on time. Anyway, good luck with your wand

If you cannot find a suitable wood for you. Please tell me what trees do you have around, I'll try to explain it further for you..

Oh, and regarding the shapes and sizes, choose anything that appeals to you. Some remove the bark, some polish it, and some just leave it as it is. And some put stuffs that may represent the elements, or maybe four elements. It's up to you

Mine was given to me by a friend, she put feathers, beads, crystal and a pentacle (she got it from her earrings) I'll post the pic when i have enough time

A good friend told me that when you're tired, just hold a tree and your energies will be replenished. Sounds a bit silly but I think I've tried. It dissipates my stress and I think the earth absorbed it. AS if the tree's alive.

Old topic...

This is just how I think of desired properties for a wand’s wood type - trees or bushes with prickly leaves, stickers and thorns make good protection or banishing/blasting rods & staffs. Woods from nut bearing trees aid fecundity, blessing, and material manifesting. Fruit trees give sweetness, sustenance, happy-thoughts. Woods from water-growing trees and bushes aid healing and psychism. Then there’s density of the wood - both oak & pine bear nuts but oak is a hard wood and pine is soft. Hard woods aid longevity. Soft woods aid flexibility. And by golly sometimes the very piece that wants to know you falls on your head & it’s good to pay attention to broad hints.

Or use the wood you already have an affinity toward, if there’s a local tree you’ve befriended, or a type of tree or bush you’ve always admired more than another, depending on where you live.
