I just finished my book on African witch craft. It is called Salayi and the witch doctor. Some say that African witchcraft is like cannibalism. What do you think?
Here is some text from by book:
Others who had visited Kanunka in the past claimed he had given them harmful medicines and potions.......
Another woman who had survived the ordeal came running back to the village one day after she had gone to see Kanunka for a love potion. When she arrived in Kwacha Kwacha village she was crying with agony. She explained to the others how Kanunka had told her to lie down, then proceeded to tie her hands and legs. When she tried to protest he brought out a sharp knife. At that point she had fainted, unable to believe what was happening to her, and when she came to her breasts had been cut off. She could not believe it. When she asked the evil witch doctor why he had cut off her breasts he told her he needed them to make her love potion....

Hi Flyer
Cannibalism is eating of human flesh by another human being, in short.
So i wouldn’t think them to be cannibal because of the short passage you wrote about... Its more like brutal.
Mind you i find it hard to believe someone was running around after having there breasts cut off, i would think they would be at least weak and barely walking from blood loss if not dead.
Although i havent read the book :
Salayi and the witch doctor. Is listed in the Fiction section of some online book stores..

I'm really not into cutting things off to get a love potion, >.<!!!
I'm also not big into africa forms of magick, etc. Although that is also true about most forms of witchcraft, It's not my favorite form of magick. Its true, cannibalism is consuming of flesh, anyway. I'll stick to chocolate for a "love potion" I've always for it romantic, no essence due-rack, for me thanks.

Africa is a huge continent. It's like trying to say what do you think of European witch craft- big difference what part. There are ancient rather dignified traditions in Africa, peaceful nature loving people and also some war like tribes that might have some strange practices. Most of the stories of cannibalism, head hunters and witch doctors were very exagerated by early Europeans who colonized- it's much more dramatic than telling stories about taking land from people who hunt with slings and arrows and dig up roots and plants to cure disease.

Salayi and the Witch Doctor
Thanks for the comments, however like everywhere in the world evil exists in every society and some wicked witches in some parts of Africa did consume human flesh.
