Good for you! It took almost 2 years for my magical name to be given to me.

Oh, I LOVE the name Pixie!!!

I'm glad you've found your Wiccan name, congratulations! I've changed mine again, lol. I love the idea of a magickal name and I've tried a couple out but deep down, the perfect name for me is Phoebe, which is my real name, lol. So I use that.

It is almost like what Indians have called a "ceremonial name" and in Wicca is sometimes held secret...but I think here we just tell everyone. There have been Wiccan traditions that insist you don't dare tell others what your magical name is.

Oh, wow, thank you! :) But what are they for? I'm sorry, i must sound stupid, but this is really taking my interest. I wonder what mine would be.

But, if you like the name, then there's no reason it can't be you're name too. :p

Since we are all given a name at birth we never get to choose the "right" name that would fit with our personality... that describes us. For example lets say your name was Ashley... How would that describe you or your personality... Sometimes names can actually give you a bad feeling like you never actually feel spirtually connected to that name... So you change it, since the name is spirtual and personal you keep it a secret only telling people when you feel it is right... I don't know that's how I see it... If I am wrong sorry... I haven't really dug into that matter because I have always felt spiritually connected with my name... Ivy.... I would like to change my last name though... :D

I'm actually interested in getting a wiccan name. (technically, I'm not wiccan, but I assume that this 'special name' has to do with all pagan religions.)

So, all I have to do is search for magical names, and I choose the one that fits me best? That sounds simple enough.

Somehow the name is also important and needed if initiated...even for self-initiation. I don't mean to imply doing it over, if you did a self-initiation. I suppose the name could come later.

I didn't do my self initiation yet. I'm going to wait at least 9 months before that happens.

I guess it is a good thing then that I waited. Thanks a lot for the information. :)

It does not.

There is no such thing is universal when it comes to pagan religions. There is nothing that can be said to apply to all pagan religions.
