questions about handfasting

This might be kind of a goofy question but i've never been to a handfasting and a friend of mine is having a handfasting ceremony this week and I'm wondering if like at weddings gifts are appropriate and if so any good suggestions...

Gifts are appropriate. Check to see if they're registered somewhere. If not, gift certificates for eating out or shops they like to visit make good gifts. Looking for something more creative...if they're so inclined, see about getting them a gift certificate for a couple's massage or spa treatment.
