Unsettling dreams

Postby angelbear » Thu Oct 30, 2008 8:43 am

I keep having dreams in which my dead dog features quite heavily and I find them quite upsetting. Its not the same dream everytime, but he is ill in them all. Most of them were just me hugging him and crying while family members looked on but one in particular really got to me. He was very poorly and getting treated at the vets but they told me to take him home that night and bring him back in the following morning (this did actually happen when he was alive). The following day I was at work and took him with me and I kept saying to my colleagues that I really should phone the vets as it was 4pm and I was meant to be there first thing. I woke up at that point. He died 4 1/2 years ago and it was the most devastating thing to happen to me. I feel like he took my very soul with him! Not a day goes by when I don't think about him and miss him but I very rarely dream about him. I just find it worrying that I wouldn't help him when he was ill :? I have tried to work out why I would have these dreams but I can't think of anything. The most obvious would be that I had guilt or unresolved feelings surrounding his death but I don't :? Am I reading too much into it and its just one of those things so to speak?

Hi Angelbear,

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling upset by your dreams-- I probably would be too, honestly. I do have a suggestion for you though, and I hope this post reaches you sometime before Samhain... I think, perhaps, your pet is coming to you in your dreams to let you know he wants to visit with you-- he's trying to come through to you any way he can- and Samhain night is the perfect time reach out to him, as it's the time when the veil between the living and dead worlds is at its thinnest. I've actually been visited by my three childhood dogs during a Samhain ritual, so I know our passed-on pets do still wish to visit with us even after they're gone.

If you don't have any experience with the Samhain ritual, I can IM you a copy of mine (or post it here, it's nothing private)... and you can give that a try tomorrow evening, if you'd like to. I'm willing to bet, though, that your furry friend will be waiting there to greet you. :28:

Blessed Be!

Thanks for that - I'll give it a try and see if they stop

Sounds good! Let us all know how it works out, if you would. :28:
