hey! i work for the national health SW so my feelings on people wanting to live forever and dodge every health problem that comes their way is more in line with your thinking than it isn't, if you know what i mean. i would SO love to have the time to take your "rant" apart and discuss every bit 
but i think someone (yes dearest) will bend my ear if i don't get my arse out of this chair! (darn!).

One of the reasons we are in a financial crisis in America and Europe is that people are living so long and we can't afford to support all the old people who need social security. There's a reason that people die. It's to make room for new humans.
I guess all this bleeding-heart, "save everyone and give them all proper medical care to let them live to be 100" crap just doesn't make sense to me. We can't save everyone.

Why do people think human life is so precious? When you look at the issue from a logical point of view (as opposed to the emotional point of view that Christians love to take), you see that death is a necessary part of life. If we ever do find a way to live forever, it will mean certain destruction for the human race.

This is kinda OT but there've been a couple SF shows etc where people create or are given some method to unnturally prolong life or become immortal, it almost always ends in tears 'cause it's just not feasible. Either the species becomes immortal/long lived and goes sterile or insane amounts of overpopulation lead to enormous wars etc. It's an interesting idea.

Kurt Vonnegut wrote a short story about that. 2BR02B. A relative had to die before a new baby could be born, and in the story the woman had twins so either the husband or the grandfather shot themselves in the head so the child could have life.
